Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program Deadline: October 25, 2019 Requirements: Be enrolled as a full-time high school senior in the United States with plans to graduate in spring/summer 2019 and enter a college in the fall of 2020 in the United States. Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy Audio and Essay Competition Deadline: October 31, 2019 Established in 1947, our Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Each year, nearly 40,000 9-12 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of $2.1 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program. The Hunt Leadership Scholars Program Deadline: January 15, 2020 The Hunt Leadership Scholarship is one of the most generous and prestigious leadership scholarships in the country, and it allows students to combine learning and leadership in a unique way at SMU. We are looking for 20-25 students each year who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in high school and who will passionately pursue leadership as Mustangs. Hunt Scholars take a leadership development course together during their first semester on campus, study abroad together, enjoy wide access to the Tate Lecture Series, engage with campus, community, and world leaders, and create a lifelong network of leaders by working alongside one another. We are also very excited to introduce an alumni mentoring program for junior Hunt Scholars this year; it will be a fantastic way to grow the students' networks and prepare them for what is to come after their graduation from SMU. South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers’ Foundation (SCLEOF) Deadline: February 21, 2020 The SCLEOF is the training and educational subsidiary of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers’ Association (SCLEOA), South Carolina’s oldest and largest professional association. Doctor Kevin Hogan Health Scholarship Deadline: March 31, 2018 The requirements for this scholarship are: 1. Currently attend Bishop England High School 2. Be a senior with at least a 3.2 GPA 3. Be interested in studying and then pursuing a career in the health field 4. Write a 1000-word essay describing what you believe you can contribute to the healthcare field and what you would like to accomplish in the field. The essay must have a cover page with your name on it, and your name should not appear on the essay itself. Xan Bowman Bridge to Clemson Scholarship Deadline: March 31, 2018 This fund was established by Philip M. Bowman in memory of his son Xan Bowman, a 2012 graduate of BE who enrolled in the Bridge to Clemson program. He passed away shortly before he was scheduled to graduate from Clemson in 2017. This scholarship will benefit BE students who enroll in the Bridge to Clemson program. The recipient(s) will be selected based on his/her performance at Bishop England with consideration given to the following areas: financial need, extracurricular involvement, attitude, spirituality, academic standing and community service, and a zest for life and love of Bishop England.

The scholarships will be based on the donations and funds raised by the annual Xan The Man Golf Tournament. There will be two $5,000 scholarships awarded for the 2018-19 academic year.
