Archived BBC public responses to complaints 2014 The One Show, BBC One, 14 January 2014 Complaint We have received complaints about Paul O'Grady's appearance on the One Show on 14 January. Some viewers felt that his views on benefit reform were not adequately challenged. BBC's Response The One Show is a topical magazine programme which occasionally reports on prominent news stories. Following media coverage of the debate around Channel Four's Benefits Street, The One Show asked members of the public for their views on the programme. A variety of opinions were heard from all sides of the debate. Following this, and in keeping with One Show tradition, the presenters discussed the issues raised with that day's studio guest, Paul O'Grady. Paul was clearly identified as a Labour supporter, and he was challenged on how he would reduce the benefits bill. Paul's views were forthright, and on reflection more could have been done to put them into context, but it is important to note that balance can be achieved across a number of programmes, and this is a subject that the One Show has covered before and hopes to revisit again in the future. EastEnders, BBC One, 14 January 2014 Complaint We received complaints from some viewers who were unhappy with a comment made by Shabnam during EastEnders on 14 January 2014. The BBC's response EastEnders has a rich history of tackling social issues. The show does not advocate racism or intolerance in any way; in fact it seeks to challenge these negative views. -

I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff at Air the holiday Balloon who have worked so hard these last six weeks to keep the learning going for chidlren at Music News school and at home. It has not been easy but I think they’ve done a fantastic job. The Bristol Post - I would also like to say thank you to all of you. Our parents and carers have also worked hard to Mother’s Day Messages keep their children engaged in their learning this term. I know that managing your child’s learning as well as keeping everything going at home and at work is not easy. You have all been CBBC YouTube Channel brilliant at making sure your children are logging in and taking part in lessons as well as World Book Day 2021 encouraging them to complete all of their work. You each deserve to be congratulated and thanked for your efforts and I do so most sincerely. This current way of schooling will change but I cannot say when. There will be some further guidance (possibly on Monday) but certainly by 22nd February about the wider reopening of schools. -

Marking our $500,000,000 milestone in financing for Canada’s independent television & film community Proud to support Canadian television & film — and even prouder of the results Half a billion … and counting As industry insiders, we know just how much work — and money — it takes to create great television and film. So in 1980, we launched our first fund to support Canada’s independent producers. Since then, we’ve invested a total of $532,039,665 in nearly 2,000 productions via four different funds and programs. And while we’re tremendously proud of that contribution, we’re even prouder of the results. Many of these productions have attracted critical acclaim and awards, including Emmys, Rockies and fistfuls of Geminis, Genies and Canadian Screen Awards. They’ve premiered at Cannes, TIFF and Sundance and been broadcast around the world. Most importantly, they’ve contributed to a rich and diverse Canadian culture. In 2016, we committed $28.2 million in 113 productions that ran the gamut from serious to seriously entertaining: from exposés and insight-packed documentaries to edgy comedy and absorbing dramas. Now, thanks to recent changes to the CRTC rules governing Certified Independent Producer Funds, we’ll have the flexibility to support an even broader range of productions, including co-ventures.
