Name: Thomas Marechek Current Status: Head Coach at Friends School of Baltimore Residence: Baltimore, Maryland Hometown: Victoria, British Columbia, Canada College: Syracuse University 1989 - 1992 COACHING CAREER It’s rare to find an iconic player who has the ability to pass on his knowledge and insight of the game through great coaching. For over 23 years, Tom Marechek has done just that and created a tradition of excellent lacrosse instruction at All Pro Lacrosse. Marechek’s philosophy is that greatness is built through a combination of hard work, desire to win, commitment and great coaching. A player can work to improve on the first three, but a great coach cannot be easily replaced. Tom is currently the Head Coach of the Men’s Varsity Lacrosse Team at Friends School of Baltimore in Maryland. Tom coached the runner MIAA Championship Team from 2010 - 2012. Prior to coaching at Friends’ School, Tom was the Head Coach of Glenelg Country School’s Men’s Varsity Lacrosse Team. He led the Glenelg Country School Dragons to the lacrosse MIAA Conference Championship Game four times since 1999, winning the MIAA "C" Conference championships two years in a row 2003 and 2004. Tom’s coaching career also extends to leading the Under Armour All-American Underclassmen South Team for 2013. TOM MARECHEK - THE PLAYER Tom is probably the most prolific goal scorer in the history of the game. Tom has it all from quickness, strength, great stick skills and is a tremendously versatile shooter that can elude any goalie on the planet. Tom began his career in Victoria, British lumCo bia playing since the age of five. He then moved on to win2 NCAA titles atSyracuse and was a four time All American. He later was drafted by the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League in 1994 with the Philadelphia Wings, and retired in 2005,nd a played seven seasons with the Baltimore/Washington Bayhawks. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Linda Esterson December 18, 2018 Kohn Creative 443-756-0112 [email protected] Philadelphia Wings Honor Springdale Preparatory School Lacrosse Coach (Philadelphia, PA) – Springdale Preparatory School head lacrosse coach Tom Marechek was celebrated during a ceremony at the home opener of the Philadelphia Wings, the newest expansion team in the National Lacrosse League. Marechek and two other former Philadelphia Wing teammates watched as their jerseys and another commemorating the Wings’ championships in 1989, 1990, 1994, 1995, 1998 and 2001were raised to the rafters of the Wells Fargo Center last Saturday, December 15, 2018. The team returned to Philadelphia for the first time since the 2014 season. Marechek has an extensive professional and collegiate lacrosse background. He is a member of the Baltimore, National and Canadian National Lacrosse Halls of Fame, a four-time NCAA All- American with Syracuse University and winner of 11 National Championships (collegiate and professional). His was named All Pro for nine seasons. He also played for the Baltimore Bayhawks (four-time All Pro), Team Toyota of the United States Club Lacrosse Association (six-time All Club) and the All World Team. Following his playing career, he has coached collegiate and high school athletes during competitions and training programs. Marechek is working to assemble the inaugural Springdale Lions lacrosse program boys’ and girls’ teams for the 2019 season. He also serves as physical education facilitator for Springdale Preparatory School, the independent boarding and day school in New Windsor, Carroll County, Maryland. Marechek earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science/secondary education from Syracuse University.

USA sweeps Canada to win Brogden Cup presented by Gatorade Written by Frank Richards Permission granted to reprint and post TAMPA – It was the American team from Rochester New York, who, for the second time in three years, won the Brogden Cup, sweeping a feisty Canadian team from Ontario in the first two games. The University of Tampa NCAA Division 2 Men’s Lacrosse program played host last week to this meaningful and historic North American competition. Rochester qualified to represent the United States by winning the National Lacrosse Classic this past summer in Maryland. The Ontario team is comprised of the top players from the Ontario Junior Men’s Field Lacrosse League. Rochester won the first game 15-7 under the lights behind a stingy defense led by college bound Nathan Gowen (Rutgers), Jay McDermott (Syracuse), Victor Petrrone (Army), Justin Rehm (Siena) and Derek Jamison (Mercyhurst). Net minders Eric Fischer (Binghamton) and Blaze Riorden (Albany) allowed only 7 goals on 34 Ontario shots. Eight Rochester players shared game one scoring honors including Conor Whipple (Georgetown 3g, 1a), Connor Enright (Mercyhurst, 2g), Derek DeJoe (Syracuse, 2g,1a), Gunnar Miller (Army, 2g,2a), Maximus Maxwell (2g), Nick Weston (Syracuse, 2g), (Tyler Aycock (Albany, 1g), John Maloney (Albany, 1g) Joe French (Georgetown) tallied 5 goals in game one as the Ontario offense struggled to find the back of the net. Nicholas Beaudoin (Notre Dame College School) contributed 2 goals while Chris Robertson, Justin DeMarchi (Denison), Kyle Jackson (Michigan) and Dan Lomas (High Point) each chipped in a goal apiece. Rochester, coached by brothers Andrew and Craig Whipple (Pittsford and Irondequoit High School respectively) have now won the Brogden Cup for a second time.
