TAMIN has already created basic infrastructure at site which includes formation of internal roads, temporary shed. As informed by villagers there is no problem due to TAMIN mining activities. Nearest town is Ponnai at a distance of 4.09 Km, located in North East. Currently the mine is not operational. Few granite industries are located in the study area. Ponnai river is the only major water source within the 10Km study area, however few rains fed water bodies located in the study area. Interstate boundary is located adjacent to TAMIN quarry, located in west direction. There are no notified ecologically sensitive areas within the study area. 4 reserved forests are located in the study area. Main occupation of the people in the study area is Agriculture. Water supply to the villages is through panchayat and bore well. Ground water is available at a depth of 200 to 300 ft. The quality of water is good. TSTC is operating few buses. Sharing autos are major source for transportation. Most of the villages are having CC, BT roads, which are in good condition. Few shrines & temples also located in the study area. Agriculture is the basic livelihood of villagers. Major crops grown in this area are Paddy, Sugar Cane, Vegetables etc., Single crop cultivation is done by most of the farmers.
