The aim of this report is to inform bulgarian citizens of the COVID-19 and the current situation in the country. The total positive cases are 1588, active cases are 1232, with 287 recovered and 69 deaths. First cases of infected were on 4th of March, which made Bulgaria one of the last countries in Europe to have spread the pandemic. Interestingly, neither of the two first cases had traveled to areas with known coronavirus cases.

The statistics shows that 20% of all cases are hospitalized. From them almost 14% are with intensive care. 174 Unfortunately, many of the cases are medical staff, 174, Medical staff forming 10%.

The maximum registered per day are 91 after mass testing in several areas and a holiday celebration when a lot of people traveled and spread the virus. The maximum deaths per day is 6 people and it was registered on the last day of April. The average cases per day are 28 and average deaths per day are 1. 1/1 5/2/2020 Page 5

Bulgaria recorded 31,643 newly registered unemployed for the period between 13 March to 1 April. From these, 17,793 claimants stated that job losses were a direct consequence of the pandemic, and 12,661 registered in the week 23–27 March alone, compared to 4,561 for the same period in 2019. The number of unemployed continued to rise throughout April. According to a statistic released by the Agency of Employment, as of 28 April 2020, there were 291,426 registered unemployed, a rise of 90,405 since the introduction of the national emergency.
