Feast day of St Pio of Pietrelcina THIS Monday 23rd. a special Mass at 7:30pm here in Lackagh church and a blessing with a relic of St. Pio after Mass. Knock miracle woman Marion Carroll from Athlone will be in attendance at this Mass. We are delighted to welcome Marion who was cured in Knock, in attendance that evening at the special Mass. The Church has now formally acknowledged Marion’s healing 30 years ago, saying there is ‘no medical explanation’ . Marion will tell her story and meet people afterwards

Authors Colm Keane and Úna O’Hagan will be signing copies of their latest publication - ‘The Village of Bernadette Lourdes Stories, Miracles and Cures – the Irish Connection’. Short Film at Knock Museum next Monday 30th which marks the 40th anniversary of the visit of Pope John Paul II to Knock Shrine. To commemorate the event, Knock Museum will screen original footage of the visit all day from 10-6pm in the museum exhibition. Free admission and all are welcome.

A guest speaker will address us on the various knots that entangle us in our lives and which may take away our peace and serenity. Community-based exercise class for all lung conditions. Classes involve a range of exercises that improve aerobic capacity, strength and flexibility. The classes also offer a social gathering where individuals can share experience of living with a lung condition. Classes are delivered by Siel Bleu Ireland in association with COPD Support Ireland. The Irish Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all public hospitals nationwide. Volunteers will need their own car but all expenses are paid. Tuam Cancer Care Physical activity programme consists of 12 weeks of strengthening and stretching exercises for people who have had a cancer diagnosis. It aims to improve functional strength and flexibility, physical stamina as well as helping with pain and fatigue. Physical Activity will commence on Monday 9th September. The Strides for Life Programme was developed by the Irish Cancer Society. It is a structured walking programme which aims to bring each cancer survivor to a level of fitness helping to reduce their risk of recurrence and improve their health and quality of life. Lackagh Men's Shed will host a lecture /workshop "Your Health Your Choice" on Wednesday 2nd October at 8 p.m. in the Carnoneen Centre. All welcome! The aim of this lecture is to increase individuals’ knowledge on how they can reduce their risk of cancer by targeting modifiable lifestyle risk factors. 4 in 10 cancers can be prevented through lifestyle choices alone. There is a direct link between the things we do, what we eat and what we drink and our health. This workshop informs individuals how they can make simple changes to 5 parts of everyday life that will reduce cancer risk: smoking, overweight and obesity, physical activity, alcohol, sun and sun beds.
