She holds a first class honours degree in Media from the University of Paisley and an upper-second class honours degree in Humanities with Philosophy and Literature from the Open University. Laura’s main research area is American war films but she has also been developing a research interest in Chinese and Hong Kong cinema, the subject of this paper. Patricia E’ Iolana (Co-Editor) is a PhD candidate at the University of Glasgow’s Centre for the Study of Literature, Theology and the Arts. She is examining the dynamic relationship between contemporary literature, theology and analytical psychology through her analysis of modern women's experiences of the Divine and the significance of literature as a tool for paradigmatic change. She holds a Master’s Degree in Humanities from California State University-Dominguez Hills (2008). Her latest academic contributions include Literature of the Sacred Feminine: Great Mother Archetypes and the Re-emergence of the Goddess in Western Traditions (VDM Verlag, 2009), and ‘Tutu Pele: The Living Goddess of Hawai'i's Volcanoes’ ( Sacred History Magazine , 2006). She is currently co-editor and contributing author to Testing the Boundaries: Self, Faith, Interpretation, and Changing Trends in Religious Studie s (Cambridge Scholars Press, forthcoming 2010). Other areas of interest include Thealogy, Archetypal Theory, Post-Jungian Theory, Religious Pluralism, and Inter-faith Relations. Wentao Jiang is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Comparative Studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. His intellectual interests are textural culture and media studies, modernity and technology, as both aesthetic and socioeconomic phenomena. The areas in which he works are the British long eighteenth century, and late nineteenth century China. He takes historical study on transculturation as a way to investigate the aesthetics and ethics of globalization in their emergent form(s). The working title of his dissertation is “Radicalizing Textual Culture in the Formation of the Modern Subject.” iv eSharp Special Issue: Communicating Change Gillian Kelly is a PhD research student in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies at the University of Glasgow. The working title of her thesis is A Taylor Made Star: Robert Taylor, MGM and the Hollywood Studio System . She holds an MLitt from the University of Glasgow and a BA (Hons) from the University of Paisley. Her areas of research include Star Studies, Gender and Masculinity, US History and Culture, Semiotics, Textual Analysis and Critical Reading. Chung-yan Kong was born and grew up in Hong Kong. She attended the City University of Hong Kong, where she received a B.A. degree in Translation and Interpretation. Later, she attended the University of Warwick for her Masters degree in Translation Studies. She was then employed as a part-time tutor of translation by the Open University of Hong Kong. In 2004, she started her Ph.D at the University of Edinburgh, and is working as a freelance translator for a translation agency in Taiwan. Her thesis is titled “The self- representation of multiple identities: translating destination images in China and Hong Kong tourism websites”. Elena Marcevska is an interdisciplinary artist and educator from Macedonia. She holds a BFA in Theatre Directing and MFA degree in Performance and New Media from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. Currently she is obtaining her Practice based PhD degree in Arts from the University of Northampton UK. Marcevska is researching the phenomenological dimension of the interaction between the human body and the digital interfaces. She currently lives and works in the UK. Andrew Rayment graduated in 1993 from Leeds University (Joints Honours English/History) and then worked in Greece and Japan for 10 years as an EFL teacher. He completed a Master's in Applied Linguistics at Cardiff University in 2003/4 then returned to Japan where he worked in Waseda and Hosei Universities as an English for Academic Purposes Lecturer. In Japan, he had two study books published, Academic Writing Skills and Strategies and Understanding Lectures . He is currently doing a PhD in the English and Creative Writing Department at Aberystwyth University on the topic of Fantasy Literature and Ideology. Julia Sallabank is Research Fellow in Language Support and Revitalisation in the Endangered Languages Academic Programme at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. She has been conducting sociolinguistic research and language documentation on Dgernesiais, the indigenous language of Guernsey, since 2000, and v eSharp Special Issue: Communicating Change gained her doctorate at Lancaster University in 2007. She was previously commissioning editor for applied linguistics and language teaching methodology at Oxford University Press. Sam Tongue (Co-Editor) is a PhD candidate working in the Centre for Literature, Theology and the Arts at the University of Glasgow. His key research interests include the relationships between literary theory and biblical interpretation, poetics, and reception history. His thesis explores the tensions inherent in contemporary poets’ uses of biblical texts and juxtaposes this with more ‘traditional’ historical-critical methods of biblical interpretation in order to refresh the thinking behind current issues in reader- and writer-centred theories of meaning production in biblical studies. He is currently co-editor and contributing author to Testing the Boundaries: Self, Faith, Interpretation, and Changing Trends in Religious Studie s (Cambridge Scholars Press, forthcoming 2010). WangYaZhuo ( AJ Wang) is a design student in his third year of Graphic Design at Glasgow School of Art. Although a talented illustrator, WangYaZhuo's preferred medium is film or animation, and he is currently planning to do a serious film in 2010.
