DES No. 22 of 2013 PROJECTED POPULATION OF KARNATAKA 2012-2021 (PROVISIONAL) Issued by: Directorate of Economics and Statistics Bangalore 2013 PREFACE The population census provides information on population and its other characteristics. The census being a decennial exercise does not provide the measure of population change from year to year. The measures of fertility and mortality derived from the census are centered on the mid-point of the decade and as such do not provide any change. Population is one of the most important items for which projections are often made. Though projections may not turn to be precise, they are indicative of the future trends and are useful to the demographers, administrators, planners and to the public at large in different ways. Projections of future populations are also required for preparation of five year plans. Academically also these forecasts are of invaluable utility. With this backdrop an attempt has been made to project the Provisional Population in Karnataka by districts and taluks for rural and urban units separately upto the year 2021. In this attempt only towns with a population of one lakh and above have been covered. These projections are based on the Geometric growth rates between 2001 and 2011 censuses. This exercise was carried out by Civil Registration & National Sample Survey Division of this Directorate. The efforts of Staff/Officers in bringing out this report is very much appreciated. Abstract: Bidar district is the home of the Bidriware industry and the very name Bidri is derived from Bidar. This craft was introduced in Bidar during the rule of Bahmanis. Towards the end of the Baridi dynasty in Bidar this craft reached its zenith and a number of outstanding specimens were produced which today enrich some museums in India and abroad. The basic materials required in Bidri industry are zinc, copper, silver and a particle type of earth. The process of production may be divided into four main stages viz. casting, engraving, inlaying and oxidizing.There are five main types of inlay for ornamenting Bidriware objects. The Bidricraft will be marketed through global media. For improving the life of Bidri artisans and for conservation as well as preservation of Bidriware scientific and technical study of Bidriware is a need of modern time. This paper will be beneficial to artists, historians, researchers, marketing agencies, government and policy makers along with scientist.Through technological help preservation and propaganda about art is also possible . Lastly, it is the work of the researcher to focus on scientific and technical thinking of art for it conservation and preservation of art. However, blast disease and salt stress cause decreases in both yield quantity and quality during cultivation. Here, gene pyramiding via marker-assisted backcrossing (MAB) using combined blast resistance QTLs (qBl 1, 2, 11, and 12) and Saltol QTL was employed in solving the problem. To pursue our goal, the RD6 introgression line (RGD07005-12-165-1), containing four blast-resistant QTLs, were crossed with the Pokkali salt tolerant variety. Blast resistance evaluation was thoroughly carried out in the fields, from BC2F2:3 to BC4F4, using the upland short-row and natural field infection methods. Additionally, salt tolerance was validated in both greenhouse and field conditions. We found that the RD6 “BC4F4 132-12-61” resulting from our breeding programme successfully resisted blast disease and tolerated salt stress, while it maintained the desirable agronomic traits of the original RD6 variety. -

Scanned with CamScanner DISTRICT SURVEY REPORT-HINGOLI CHPATER -1 INTRODUCTION As per Gazette Notification of 15th January, 2016 of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change a survey shall be carried out by the District Environment Impact Assessment Authority (DEIAA) with assistance of Irrigation department, Drainage department, Forest department, Mining department and Revenue department in district of preparation of District Survey Report as per the sustainable sand mining guidelines, 2016 to ensure identification of area of aggradations or deposition where mining can be allowed, and identification of areas of erosion and proximity to infrastructural structures and installation where mining should be prohibited and calculation of annual rate of replenishment and allowing time for replenishment after mining in thatarea. Every effort has been made to cover sand mining locations, areas and overviews of mining activity in the district with all the relevant features pertaining to geology and mineral wealth in replenish- able and non-replenish-able areas of rivers, stream and other sources. The mineral potential is calculated based on field investigation taking coordinates of the area and gather all relevant information and geology of the catchment area of the river or stream. Also as per the site condition and location depth of mineable mineral is defined. The area of removal of mineral in the river and stream is decided on geomorphology and other factors, it can be 50% to 60% of the area of a particular river or stream. This District Survey Report shall form the basis of application for environmental, preparation of reports and appraisal of projects. HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: The district „Hingoli‟ was created bifurcating the Parbhani district and formed on 24th April 1999. -

Abstract: The physico-Chemical Observation was monitored on Bhiwapur Lake during July-2012 to June 2013 to determine the lake water quality. The month wise water sample was collected from the lake by estimating the various physicochemical parameters like- Temperature, pH, Free Carbondioxide, D.O. Were measured simultaneously. The data revealed that there was significant seasonal variation in some Physico-chemical Parameter. Now a day’s many human activities created pollution in and around the water body, due to which natural status of this lake may come in the danger zone of water pollution, In this relationship the study was conceded out in which water samples from different (i.e. Five) locations Bhiwapur Lake were collected and analyzed for their physico-chemical characteristics to report water quality. It has been found that the water is not good for drinking purpose in summer seasons. The nutrients are included in sufficient amount for the growth of aquatic organisms in the lake. Present work also embodies suggestion for the conservation of lake environments. Keywords: Bhiwapur Lake, Physico-chemical analysis, Lake environmental conservation.
