Abstract Telipogon stinae Dodson & Dalström (Orchidaceae) Described as an Ecuadorian Species is Reported as an Addition to the Flora of Colombia.

The Telipogon was established by Carl Sigismund Kunth in 1816. Kunth published the genus in Nova Genera et Species Plantarum (in F. W. H. von Humboldt, A. J. A. Bonpland & C. S. Kunth). The name refers to the hairs that cover the distal end of the column.

There are 271 species of Telipogon recognized, with a total of 72 species listed for Colombia and 68 for Ecuador (WCSP, 2018). An Ecuadorian species Telipogon stinae Dodson & Dalström has been discovered in Colombia.

We here report this species as a new addition to the Orchidaceae of Colombia.

Telipogon stinae Dodson & Dalström, Icon. Pl. Trop. 10: t. 994 (1984). Type: Ecuador, Loja, above Vilcamba, alt. 2400 m., Dalström & Udd, 78. 13 Feb. 1983. Holotype: SEL.

The were discovered growing epiphytically in the area known as La Bota Caucana. It is a región in the southeast corner of the department of Cauca. The region owes its name to the shape of its territory, which resembles a boot. Voucher specimen: Colombia, Department of Cauca, from La Bota Caucana, near the headwaters of the Caqueta River. From cultivation. Collector: Jorge Luis Aguirre, s. n., 2018 (HJPU).

Telipogon stinae can be distinguished from similar species by the combination of the lip callus being bilobed (apically notched) and the reddish-brown tessellations on the sepals and petals.
