SEVERN RUN EVANGELICAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (Evening Service)

A Congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) THE LORD’S DAY EVENING WORSHIP Sunday, 11 March, 2018

WELCOME & GREETING Pastor Jesse M. Crutchley

INVOCATION CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 68:3-4 “But let the godly rejoice. Let them be glad in God’s presence. Let them be filled with joy. Sing praises to God and to his name! Sing loud praises to him who rides the clouds. His name is the Lord— rejoice in his presence!”

✤ HYMN No 01 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee

SCRIPTURE READING 42:9-16 “So the Temanite and the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord commanded them; for the Lord had accepted Job. And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the Lord had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold. Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. He also had seven sons and three daughters. And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second , and the name of the third Keren- Happuch. In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.”

CONFESSION OF SIN Licensed Intern Bradley Chwastyk Responsive: Leader: Almighty God, our gracious Heavenly Father, we acknowledge our transgressions. Congregation: Our sin is ever before us. All our righteousness is as filthy rags; we all do fade as a leaf and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away; there is none among us who calls upon Your name as we should, nor any that stirs himself to take hold of You.

Leader: Be merciful to us, O LORD. Wash us thoroughly from our iniquities, and cleanse us from our sins.

ALL: Turn us from our wayward paths. Search and try our ways, and draw us unto You, and let Your lovingkindness and Your touch continually preserve us, to the glory of Christ Jesus our Lord, through whom alone we approach You. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON 1John 2:1,2; Rev. 1:5 God the Holy Spirit assures us that, “If any many sins, he has an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He is the propitiation for our sins. He is the faithful witness, the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth, who has loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood. ” Amen.
