This document presents a range of data, statistics and trends analysed at ward level, and is focussed on highlighting differences between the 18 wards in the Borough and what has changed between the 2001 Census and the 2011 Census.

All data has been sourced from the first and second releases of the 2011 Census, published by the Office for National Statistics. www.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/2011census

BRACKNELL FOREST WARDS – KEY FACTS WHO WE ARE • with is the ward with the highest number of residents in the borough (8,689); and Central is the ward with the lowest (4,611). • The ward with the highest proportion of older people is . and Garth has the lowest. • Priestwood and Garth has the highest proportion of people who said that their health was poor. Warfield Harvest Ride has the lowest. • Wildridings and Central has the highest proportion of people who said they had a limiting long term health problem or disability. HOW WE LIVE • Binfield with Warfield has the highest number of households (3,534) in the borough; Great Hollands South has the lowest (1,910) • Winkfield and Cranbourne has the highest proportion of owner occupied homes; Wildridings and Central has the lowest. • Great Hollands South has the highest average household size (2.7). • Little Sandhurst and Wellington has the highest average number of rooms per household. • Hanworth has the highest proportion of households without central heating and Warfield Harvest Ride has the lowest. • and Warfield Harvest Ride have the highest proportion of households who own one or more cars or vans. • Priestwood and Garth has the most households without any cars or vans.

WHAT WE DO • Winkfield and Cranbourne has the highest proportion of people who provide unpaid care. • Little Sandhurst and Wellington has the lowest proportion of people aged 16 to 74 who are economically active but unemployed. • Old Bracknell has the highest proportion of people aged 16 to 74 who are economically active but unemployed. • Warfield Harvest Ride has the highest proportion of people who achieved a qualification at level 4 or higher. • Priestwood and Garth has the highest proportion of people who have no qualifications at all. • The number of people working in Process, Plant and Machine Operatives are very low when compared to other occupations in every ward.

Population change by ward

The chart below shows a breakdown of population change across the borough by ward. Great Hollands North saw the biggest increase in population (1,440) with Old Bracknell (933) and (865) also showing substantial growth. Some wards have decreased in population with Hanworth (-792) and (-730) seeing the largest population decreases.

Population age profile

Binfield with Warfield is the most heavily populated ward, whereas Wildridings and Central has the smallest population. Priestwood and Garth is the ward with most residents of age 65 and above. Binfield with Warfield is the ward with the most residents in the Economically Active age group (18-64). Warfield Harvest Ride is the ward with the most students and young children (0-17).

General health

The health question in 2001 was based on 3 categories (good, fair and bad), whereas in 2011 it was classified under five categories (very good, good, fair, bad and very bad). Hence a direct comparison is not possible. Priestwood and Garth has the highest number of people who consider themselves to be in very Bad Health (91 residents).

Long-term health problem or disability

The ward with the highest proportion of people with a limiting long term illness or disability is Winkfield and Cranbourne, Crownwood has the lowest.

Religion

Christians form the largest religious group in all wards; however, there is a considerable decrease compared to 2001. College Town has a large proportion of Hindus (5.78%). There is a considerable increase in the number of people who identify themselves as not having a religion.

The Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) population has increased over the last ten years. College Town has the highest number of BME residents. Little Sandhurst and Wellington has the lowest number of BME residents.

Between 2001 and 2011 the number of households within rose by 2,540 (5.8 per cent) from 44,482 to 47,039 in contrast to 7,692 (21.6 per cent) between 1991 and 2001.

Provision of unpaid care

Both national and local trends show an increasing proportion of people providing unpaid care. Although both figures are rising, the percentage of people who provide unpaid care in Bracknell Forest (8.6 per cent) is lower than the national average (10.3 per cent).
