Shu hit a stone wall, and his heave to Van Patton was incomplete. Shu then booted the ball fully 70 yards up to DemUro and was checked by Van Patton. Both Bogese and Demuro failed to gain for the freshmen. Chap- man returned Tech's punt to mid- field. VMI failed to gain on line plays, so another long punt was lifted over Tech's goal. Demuro's pass failed, so he kicked again. Chapman's fair catch was inter- fered with, so VPI received a fif- teen yard penalty. The Rats punt- ed back after an. incomplete pass. Tech was penalized for clipping, and then kicked outside on their own eleven yard line. The Rats gained about seven yards on a short pass, and then they failed to complete a toss over the goal. Demuro fumbled one punt and Major recovered and crossed Tech's goal line. The game was not grant- ed the Rats due to a technicality on a fumble. Demuro intercepted a Rat pass on his own six yard line and gambling heavily, passed twice before he booted the ball up to Chapman who flashed and fought his way to Tech's three yard line. VMI failed to put the baU across Tech's goal and the ball went over to Tech. Again Demuro took a long chance, passing, Stew- art intercepted Demuro's heave and brought the ball again to the shadow of Tech's goal. With about one foot to go, Shu smashed it over in about the last two min- utes of play. The extra point was good, and the game ended with the Rats 13—VPI 6.
