NWFB Route 19 to be replaced by Citybus Route 19 Route coverage from Happy Valley (Upper) extended to Siu Sai Wan and Chai Wan

(22 March 2013, ) To provide better bus service for residents of Eastern District, with effect from 24 March (Sunday), New World First Bus (NWFB) Route 19 will be cancelled and replaced by Citybus Route 19, with route coverage from Happy Valley (Upper) extended to Siu Sai Wan. Details are as follows:

The new Citybus Route 19 will travel between Siu Sai Wan (Island Resort) and Happy Valley (Upper) (Tai Hang Road), at a full fare of HK$5.80. For Happy Valley bound departures, service hours will be from 5:40am to 10:30pm, departing from Siu Sai Wan (Island Resort), via Island Eastern Corridor, diverted from and Moreton Terrace to Causeway Road, and extended to and Tai Hang Road. Additional bus stops will be provided at Causeway Road near Queen’s College, Causeway Road near Moreton Terrace and Happy Valley (Lower). Meanwhile, original bus stops at Tung Lo Wan Road near Queen’s College, Tung Lo Wan Road near Chinese Recreation Club and Moreton Terrace near Hong Kong Central Library will be cancelled.

For Siu Sai Wan bound departures, service hours will be from 6:45am to 11:30pm, departing from Tai Hang Road, diverted to operate via and Pennington Street, after King’s Road it will be operating via Island Eastern Corridor instead of Ferry Pier, and extending to Chai Wan and Siu Sai Wan. Additional bus stops will be provided at Leighton Road near Matheson Street, Leighton Road near Bonaventure House and Pennington Street. Meanwhile, original bus stops at Gloucester Road near Victoria Park, Shu Kuk Street near Sun Beam Theatre and North Point Ferry Pier will be cancelled.

As the service of Citybus Route 19 between Siu Sai Wan and Happy Valley (Lower) will be the same as the existing Citybus Route 8X, the new arrangement will bring more choices to residents of Eastern District, with a coverage extension of local bus service to Happy Valley (Upper).

In addition, from 25 March (Monday), the special departure of NWFB Route 19 from Shau Kei Wan will also be replaced by Citybus Route 19P (School Special Service), departing from Shau Kei Wan from Monday to Friday (except Public Holiday and School Holiday) at 7:00am. After traveling in King’s Road, North Point, its routeing will be diverted from Tung Lo Wan Road and Moreton Terrace to Causeway Road, with additional bus stops provided at Causeway Road near Queen’s College, Causeway Road near Moreton Terrace and Happy Valley (Lower). Meanwhile, original bus stops at Tung Lo Wan Road near Queen’s College, Tung Lo Wan Road near Chinese Recreation Club and Moreton Terrace near Hong Kong Central Library will be cancelled. Full fare will be HK$4.70, with additional section fares at Healthy Gardens and Tsing Fung Street for HK$3.80 and HK$3.40 respectively.
