DEPARTMENT OF NURSING 2014-2015 PROGRESS REPORT 3 Dear Nursing Alumni: Emporia State Over the last several years I have been a part of many wonderful changes as the University President of the Emporia State University/Newman Nursing Alumni Association. Newman Nursing The interior of the nursing school has been given a facelift, we have joined forces with ESU and the ESU Foundation, we have held several successful Alumni Alumni Association Banquets, and we have helped support many nursing students with scholarships to Update continue their education. These are all efforts I am very proud to be a part of! This is my last Fall Newsletter for the Association as my term will end in March, but before I go, I want to share with you one more bit of exciting news… On Wednesday, March 30th, 2016 we will host our Spring Alumni Banquet. Yes, this is a change from the usual Saturday evening activity, but the reason is outstanding! We are so very fortunate to share this date with the nursing program as they are bringing in none other than Dr. Patch Adams as a guest speaker for the day!! This is a continuing education opportunity for nurses from near and far. You may also attend just to enjoy the speaker. He has brought attention to the need of humor in medicine. So what this means for alumni is the opportunity to earn some education credits, hear from a world renowned guest speaker that is guaranteed to make you laugh, and attend the Alumni Banquet in the evening and catch up with colleagues and friends. All in one amazing day!! Please take this opportunity to mark Wednesday, March 30th, 2016 on your calendars and plan to be a part of our special day! If you have any questions about this fabulous event, please contact the ESU Department of Nursing at 620-341-4440. Thank you for the opportunity to lead such a great organization! Good luck in the future! Sincerely, President Tammi Ogle, RN-BSN (08)
