ITALIAN F.4 CHAMPIONSHIP POWERED BY ABARTH Fourth round of the F.4 Championship on the Tuscan circuit Engines are warming up for the race weekend in Mugello The Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth will be racing this coming weekend on the temple of speed, the Autodromo del Mugello, the 2015 mid-season appointment. Once more participation is extremely good, with 26 drivers registered to the race. This year the Italian F.4 Championship Powered by Abarth is more than ever an international championship, thanks to drivers coming from all over the World, while Italian are the organization set up by ACI Sport and WSK Promotion, and the important tutorial activity of the ACI Sport Federal School. Moreover, all the circuits involved are the best venues in Italy, selected carefully by the organization to offer maximum level of safety, tracks and services. General Championship classification sees in first position Ralf Aron (150 points), of Prema Powerteam, and his team-mate Guan Yu Zhou (135 points). Third is the Russian Robert Shwartzman (Muecke Motorsport) with 78 points, followed by the German David Beckmann (Muecke Motorsport) with 68 points, the Israeli Bar Baruch (Israel F.4) tied with the Brazilian Joao Vieira (Antonelli Motorsport) (60 points). In the newly born Woman Trophy Julia Pankiewicz leads, with just one point, on her twin sister Wiktoria, both of RB Racing. Racing weekend program sees two qualifying sessions on Friday at 17.40 and, to follow, three races, one on Saturday with start at 14.20 and two on Sunday starting at 9.00 and at 17.05. Press Release SIX DRIVERS IN CONTENTION TO BE F3 CHAMPION, FERRARI’S FUTURE STARS LEAD F2 TO MUGELLO Milan, September 10, 2020 - After an intense season with nine rounds in the space of 11 weekends, a new Formula 3 champion will be crowned at Mugello. Six drivers are in mathematical contention to win the title: Prema Racing team-mates Oscar Piastri and Logan Sargeant, Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix), Liam Lawson (Hitech GP), David Beckmann (Trident) and Frederik Vesti (Prema). In Formula 2, where Mugello is the first of four rounds still to run, the championship standings are headed by Callum Ilott, Mick Schumacher and Robert Shwartzman: all three are members of the Ferrari Driver Academy and are covered by only nine points. The challenge Mugello is made up of 15 corners that are mainly medium to high speed, meaning the lateral demands on the tyres are far greater than the braking and traction forces. The surface at Mugello is known to be aggressive, adding to the demands on the tyres. Temperatures are also likely to be high, making thermal degradation a factor. Mugello has never hosted the F2 or F3 championships or their predecessors, not even for testing. Teams will therefore have limited knowledge about car setup and how the tyres will perform, prior to the single 45-minute free practice sessions on Friday. The tyres and strategy The P Zero White hard and P Zero Red soft tyres have been nominated in Formula 2 for Mugello, creating an interesting performance gap between the compounds. In F2, each driver has five sets of slick tyres to use over the weekend: three hard and two soft.
