Newsletter Design Choices (PUB 138)

To Format with Continued Notices (PUB 152)

 ______-click the last column of text in the story.  Click ______Text Box to display the Format Text Box dialog box.  Click the ______tab to display its settings.  Tick the box next to Include “Continued on page…” and press OK.  Click the ‘Go to next text box’ button (arrows) on the border of the text box column where the story is located.  Repeat the steps above to tick the option to Include “Continued from page…” and press OK.

Customizing the Ribbon (PUB 157)

You can edit text directly in Publisher or ______text from a previously stored file. A third way to edit text is to use Microsoft Word as your editor.

If you only need to edit a few words, it is faster to continue using Publisher. IF you need to edit a longer story or one that has not been previously stored, it may be easier to edit the story in Word. Many users are accustomed to using Word and its features.

 Type, edit, and format the story.  Click the ______button on the title bar of the document.  ______-click the text to display the shortcut menu and then click Best Fit to autofit the text.

To Replace a Graphic Using the Shortcut Menu (PUB 166 – 167)  Click the graphic once to select the combined graphic and picture.  Click the graphic again to select only the picture.  ______-click the graphic to display the shortcut menu.  Choose Change Picture to display its submenu.  Click Change Picture to display the Insert Picture dialog box.

To Replace a Graphic with Clip Art (PUB 169)  Click the grouped picture and caption.  Click the picture again to select only the picture.  Go to the ______tab on the Ribbon.  Click the ______button in the ______group.

Page Parts (PUB 172) Publisher newsletter templates include elements and layout features to make the newsletter more attractive and add interest to the page.

Hyphenation (PUB 187) Hyphenation refers to splitting a word that would otherwise extend beyond the right margin. Publisher allows you to automatically or manually hyphenate text, insert optional or nonbreaking , and set the maximum amount of space allowed between a word and the right margin.

To Check Hyphenation  Click within a story.  Click the ______Tools Format tab on the Ribbon.  Click the ______button in the ______group.  Uncheck the ‘Automatically hyphenate this story’ box, and check the Manual button instead.
