This year’s winner of both our Branch competitions was the Talbot in Ripley. The runner-up in the Pub of the Year competition was the White Hart at Bargate, who had won the competition in the previous two years. The runner-up in the Cider Pub of the Year competition was Angels Micro Pub, Belper. Many congratulations to Steve and Angie at the Talbot for their double success and also to the runners-up in throughout October and judging of the 6 finalists both competitions. will take place in November. Pubs nominated for the Cider competition would be expected to serve and promote a good range of real ciders and perries throughout the year. The 2020 Branch Pub of The Year competition will be organised by ourselves and we will be asking for nominations during November, with judging of the 8 finalists taking place during December and January. The Pub of the Year is not based solely on the range of real ale on offer, but takes into account several other factors such as the welcome you receive, quality of service, atmosphere, décor and community involvement.
