We have lots of activities going on Keelboat Racing Fleet out at the Club. Be sure and check the schedule [email protected] and plan to come to an event that appeals to you. It has been an especially sad month for Windycrest. Since Memorial Day we have lost some of our stalwart members, Jack Marsee; our first Commodore, MC Scow Ken Greenwood; Joe Becker, a rock of sailing in Oklahoma; fellow racer Kevin Grant Gerondale Meehan; and newer member Paul LaGore. All of these members did their part [email protected] to build Windycrest into what it is today. To get a feel for how much Ken and Joe 918-241-0675 had in the formation of Windycrest, you can read the 25th Anniversary Book that is on the website. It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to them for now. As we work on our fourth and fifth generations of members, the leadership and Centerboard Racing Fleet love of sailing that these leaders exhibited should be remembered and inspire Darrel Daniel all of us for the future. 918-865-2719 Windycrest will be holding our 34th annual charity regatta on Saturday, [email protected] September 7th. Since the closing of the MS Regatta, I had been struggling to come up with something that the Club could get behind and do our part to bet - ter the world. This request is not just for him but on behalf of all the ALS 918-245-6419 patients and their families and caregivers. Steve's dream is to see the APSO [email protected] become a reality for local ALS patients. The regatta is in the planning stages, and it will be a low key affair. It will be a really special sailing day as it may be the final time Steve will be able to race +95 Fleet/Sunfish (he is hoping to at this time) on his Catalina 22 Noteworthy . Steve [email protected] will be thrilled if you do. MC Nationals was a great time, but woo was it windy. We managed to get 4 races in, but we were blown off the lake each day. None of us Windycrest C27/25 sailors had a very good regatta, but we all had a great time. Drew and I partic - Mike & Tracy Lang ipated in the team racing demonstration. It is a different type of sailing. Three 918-242-3855 boats per team raced each other on a 250 yard long windward leeward course, C27/[email protected] doing two laps per race.     CRUISING BOAT SKIPPER INFORMATION FILE Revisions Adopted by Board October 5, 2016 This Cruising Boat Skipper Information File (SIF) sets forth the skipper responsibilities and SCOW procedures specific to the use of SCOW's three cruising boats – Rebecca (a 1980 Catalina 25, Hiatus (a 2003 Catalina 250), and Skirmish (a 1981 Capri 25), which are docked on G dock. The SIF supplements the SCOW Skipper Requirements and Boat Use Policy, which contains general procedures for use of all club boats. Cruising Skippers must be familiar with both and the Washington Sailing Marina Rules, which are posted on the Bylaws and Policies page of the SCOW website. This SIF only emphasizes important features of the boats; it is not an “instruction manual” on how to operate the boats. Detailed operating instructions, equipment inventories and stowage plans are on board each boat. Each skipper must be familiar with how to operate all of the systems on each boat. This SIF is not a substitute for a Cruising Boat class or other land/water training. Our boats are for enjoyment by all of our members. Take pride in our boats removing all trash and cleaning the cabin after use. Please scrub the deck and cockpit and wipe the cabin sole after each use. Stow equipment only where identified on the stowage list. Failing to return equipment to the proper location endangers the next crew, who could be unable to find equipment in an emergency. Refill the gas tank if less than 3/4 full (and it would be courteous if you filled the tank no matter what).

Each of the tuo regattas was very successful. I will leave it to the two regatta chairs, Rob Wilson and Kathy Comer to describe the events. Individual fleets have also conducted major events at the club. The Spring Series Bu{Iet, beefstroganoffand chicken Florentine was created and served by Alexis Tapp. Dayna Mosier did a wonderful job selecting trophies for the series. Those ofyou rvho have been racing the series races have enjoyed the free food, drinks and beer after each of the races. Pat Manning has been in charge of most of the end of race snacks.

    November 2014 Dec 1 BOG Meeting Dec 13 WSC Holiday Party Windycup Club Champion Roger Kerr Crew Bryan Wutzke Commodore’s Report November 2014 Well, this is my first report as Commodore and I have some large shoes to fill. I want to thank Terry for his service to the club and feel a little more comfortable having him as Past Commodore in a nice advi- sory position. I would like to thank IV McNamara (Rear Commodore), Harvey and Marsha Baker (Activities Captains), and Roger Adams (Fleet Captain) for accepting their position on the board. We have an unpleasant duty that needs to be addressed this month. With the increase of about every- thing, we are proposing about a 9% dues increase. Our current lease with the Corp of Engineers having run out quite a long time ago and now just getting updated we are looking at about three times the ex- pense. One of our break-waters is about at its end of functionality and is going to need to be replaced soon. To counter-balance these upcoming needs and just the increase in our day to day needs, we feel that this increase is needed to provide the current status quo. I am one that does not want to spend any more money than I have to, but if you look at what we get for the money that is spent belonging to Windycrest it is quite a deal. I would like to invite any member of Windycrest to our December meeting to voice their opinion on this matter.

Somehow it seems like September has been hotter than August. We have the Tulsa Cat Fight this weekend, there should be a few dozen Hobies racing. Come out and spectate, official regatta ceremonies are at Washington Irving South. The MC Southwest Regional Championship and steak dinner is in two weeks pre register @ mcscow.org to sail or RSVP on our website for dinner. The Windycup and Club Meeting BBQ is a month away. The Sail for Steve regatta was a great success! Everything came together for a perfect afternoon of sailing. We did not reach Steve’s hopes of having 50 boats out, there was close to 40. A superb team made it possible for Steve to ride on the committee boat during the regatta, Steve was extremely happy about getting on the water! I am certain we can get 60 boats out there next year! Thank You to Paul Foerster, all the Sailors, Volunteers and Donors for making this event come together and raise over $10k for APSO. We have plenty of nice sailing days left until old man winter comes down, don’t sleep on it. Cheers!
