JASON AND DEVIN MCCOURTY KEYNOTE AND DISTINGUISHED LEADERS AWARD

Raised in New Jersey both Jason and Devin graduated from Rutgers University in 2009 and 2010, respectively. Jason majored in IT while Devin majored in Sociology. Both received Honorary Doctorates from Rutgers in 2019.

Jason McCourty is a Champion and defensive captain for the . He played at Rutgers before being drafted by the in the 2009 NFL Draft. In 2018 he was traded to the New England Patriots. McCourty and his twin brother Devin have raised over $2 million dollars net profit for Tackle Sickle Cell, a campaign they co-founded to raise money and awareness for sickle cell disease. Jason was previously nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year and Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. As a Players Coalition supporter, McCourty focuses on education and was among the Coalition members who successfully lobbied lawmakers in Massachusetts to raise the age from 7 to 12 at which children can be charged in juvenile court.

Devin McCourty is a two-time Pro-Bowler, three-time Super Bowl Champion, defensive captain for the New England Patriots, and Chair of the Players Coalition Education & Economic Advancement committee. He played at Rutgers University. Alongside Pro Football Hall of Famers Rod Woodson and Ronnie Lott, he is one of only three NFL players to earn All-Pro honors at both safety and cornerback. As a Players Coalition Key Player, McCourty’s focuses include bail reform, education, and prosecutor accountability. In 2019, McCourty advocated for the Education PROMISE Act and testified in front of the Legislature’s Joint Committee in support of the bill. The legislation, which will provide education funding to low-income areas, later passed. McCourty was among the Coalition members who successfully lobbied lawmakers in Massachusetts to raise the age from 7 to 12 at which children can be charged in juvenile court. Devin McCourty was recently nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for the fourth time in his career.
