Indeed we are delighted and convey our heartfelt thanks to Anna Univer- sity Sports Board for having nominated our College as the Zonal Sports Co- ordinating Centre for the year 2015-16. We assure that all possible efforts consistently will be evolved to deliver the best in Sports administration. Sports are good for learning, accountability, dedication and leadership, among many other generally, some may think that sports could distract student – athletes from academic work but the opposite is true. Sports require memorisation, repetition and learning the skills that are directly relevant to class work. The determination and goal setting skills which sports require can be transferred to class rooms. I fervently hope that in future people will tend to be more optimistical to sports since they are the necessity of our lives. Since, they build planning and analytical skills which will enhance our concentration in one’s life. I conclude here with an old saying that WINNERS LOOSE, WINNERS PARTICIPATE AND WINNERS ONLY PLAY. Sports teach us much about life. It teaches us about teamwork, it teaches us how to get along with others, and it teaches us to work together to achieve a common goal. It’s also about trust and responsibility and about dealing with success and failure. Sport also helps us learn about coping with pressure and the need to stick with training in order to improve. Apart from individual benefits, sports and physical activities bring great benefits to communities through improved health and education, rehabilitation, crime prevention, and gender equality. Sports enable one to maintain sound health to lead a sound life. I am happy to identify myself with the squad of energetic players who once proved and are proving their skills through training the budding players to prove their worth in this competitive world. The mission of the college is to serve the economically and socially marginalized sections of the society. This institution has served and is serving the society irrespective of caste and creed to protect the rights of education. 18 ANNA UNIVERSITY SPORTS BOARD ZONE – 1 TOURNAMENTS Anna University general rules

During the zonal meeting with the Principal/Physical Directors of the engineering colleges of your zone, the following points may be informed. Every year in spite of repeated circulars the following points are not considered seriously. General issues ä The attendance details of the Physical Directors who attended Zonal Meeting may be sent along with the minutes of the meeting to AUSB ä In the minutes, the suggestions given by the Physical directors may be recorded with their names and colleges. This is very important. ä The details of the Colleges who have not participated in the zonal meeting may be given to the AUSB ä For participation in zonal matches the teams should be accompanied by only the Physical Directors. Otherwise the teams will not be allowed to participate. ä Any malpractice/issues which will affect the name of the university, during the zonal matches, will be viewed very seriously and action will be taken as per the norms of the University. ä During the Managers meeting, all the documents related to the Eligibility of the students be submitted as per the time schedule informed by the zonal sports coordinator/secretary and eligibility form should be complete in all respects. Otherwise, the decision of the zonal sports committee will be the final ä Regarding the fixtures of the tournaments, the decision taken during the meeting may be considered as final. ä The minutes of the meeting should be sent to all the colleges of your zone irrespective of their presence in the meeting. ä The committee constituted by the University for revising the coordination charges for the zonal/interzonal tournaments and the TA/DA for the zonal/ interzonal selection committee members and for the Managers/coaches and players representing the University have given their recommendation. As soon as the University approves it will be implemented. ä This year the medals and trophies for the zonal tournaments will be sent before the end of August or September as e-tender process is over and the purchase committee has also cleared. ä The annual award function is planned during the month of August, 2015.

For zonal coordinators/ secretaries ä All communications from the zonal coordinating centres should be addressed to the Chairman, AUSB and email correspondence should be addressed to ausb&annauniv.edu or [email protected] ä The name list of selection committee members to be proposed during the zonal meeting for each sports and games should be sent to the AUSB, with specialisation and previous experience immediately to AUSB. (This is because of change of colleges by most ot the physical directors) ä The results of zonal tournaments with names of the winning teams and colleges along with players chosen for selection trials should be sent as soon as the tournament is over. (One photo of the winning team may be sent)

GENERAL RULES 1. All players should wear proper Uniform. 2. Umpire decision is final. 3. All the Teams should report at 09.00 am to respective venues. 4. All the Team should report as per scheduled time only 30 minutes grace time will be given. 5. All the Teams should report 15 minutes before the allotted time. 6. All women games spot fixtures will drawn. 7. The Teams will not be allowed to play without Director of Physical Education. 8. College ID card is must for all Players. 9. The Team must bring Anna University Sports Board Eligibility Proforma, along with the details of players list, duly signed by the head of Institution & Director of Physical Education. 10. UG students have to attach +2 mark sheet Xerox must. Other State and Diploma students have to attach SSLC mark sheet Xerox must. 11. PG students Degree or Provisional Certificate Xerox should be enclosed. 12. The Zonal Coordinator has rights of changing time, date & any other matter connected with Zone Tournaments.
