The United States hosted the Championships for the third time, previously in 2000 in Minneapolis and 2010 in Colorado Springs. In fourth place, after the short program, Team Unique (Finland 1) soared up the standings with a flawless free skate to earn the world title, edging NEXXICE (Canada 1) by less than one point. In third place for the fourth straight year were the Haydenettes (USA 1). Skating to music from The Help, Team Unique was the final team to skate in the free skate. They earned 139.49 points for their performance, more than four points better than the second place team. Despite finishing with the second-best score for their components, Team Unique totaled 65.74 points for their elements which included 8.50 points for their moves in the field elements helping them to 208.77 points overall. Leading after the short program, last year’s silver medalists, NEXXICE again took home the silver medal as they finished with 208.25 points overall. Skating to the classic music of “Die Fledermaus,” NEXXICE, dressed in gold and black, finished with the top score for their components in this segment of the competition.

    2021 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships January 11-21, 2021 Las Vegas | The Orleans Arena Media Information and Story Ideas The U.S. Figure Skating Championships, held annually since 1914, is the nation’s most prestigious figure skating event. The competition crowns U.S. champions in ladies, men’s, pairs and ice dance at the senior and junior levels. The 2021 U.S. Championships will serve as the final qualifying event prior to selecting and announcing the U.S. World Figure Skating Team that will represent Team USA at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm. The marquee event was relocated from San Jose, California, to Las Vegas late in the fall due to COVID-19 considerations. San Jose meanwhile was awarded the 2023 Toyota U.S. Championships, marking the fourth time that the city will host the event. Competition and practice for the junior and Championship competitions will be held at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The event will take place in a bubble format with no spectators. Las Vegas, Nevada This is the first time the U.S. Championships will be held in Las Vegas. The entertainment capital of the world most recently hosted 2020 Guaranteed Rate Skate America and 2019 Skate America presented by American Cruise Lines. The Orleans Arena The Orleans Arena is one of the nation’s leading mid-size arenas. It is located at The Orleans Hotel and Casino and is operated by Coast Casinos, a subsidiary of Boyd Gaming Corporation. The arena is the home to the Vegas Rollers of World Team Tennis since 2019, and plays host to concerts, sporting events and NCAA Tournaments.

    December 4, 2018 Lausanne, Switzerland Top skaters take center stage in Vancouver ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final Preview Following six weeks of exciting competition, the top six Men, Ladies, Pairs and Ice Dance couples of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series 2018/19 will take center stage at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Vancouver (CAN) this week. A total of 36 skaters/couples from nine ISU members have qualified during the six events of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series – Skate America in Everett, WA, Skate Canada in Laval, QC, Grand Prix Helsinki (FIN), NHK Trophy in Hiroshima (JPN), Rostelecom Cup in Moscow (RUS) and Internationaux de France in Grenoble. Overview of the competitors Reigning World Champion Nathan Chen (USA) and World silver medalist Shoma Uno (JPN) lead the list of qualifiers in the Men’s after striking gold in their two Grand Prix events. Chen is also the defending ISU Grand Prix Final Champion and Uno the defending silver medalist. Chen scored a season’s best of 280.57 points at Skate America while Uno posted a season’s best of 277.25 points at Skate Canada. Michal Brezina (CZE), who picked up two silver medals on the circuit, returns to the Final for the first time since 2011 (SBt 257.98). Sergei Voronov (RUS) will compete in his third Final (SB 254.28 points). The two newcomers this season are Junhwan Cha (KOR), who is also the first Korean male skater to qualify for the (senior) Grand Prix Final (SB 259.78 points) and Keegan Messing (CAN/SB 265.17 points) who replaces Yuzuru Hanyu (JPN).

Hanyu (JPN) dazzles in Men’s Short Program at Skate Canada Two-time Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan swept aside the competition in the Men’s Short Program at Skate Canada in Kelowna on Friday, winning with 20 points to spare in a stunning performance. Grand Prix debutant Camden Pulkinen (USA) surprisingly came second ahead of Canada’s Nam Nguyen. Hanyu opened his dramatic performance to “Otonal” by Raul di Blasio with a quadruple Salchow and a triple Axel followed by a quadruple-triple toeloop combination. The 2019 world silver medalist collected a level four for his spins and earned a mammoth 109.60 points to the delight of the enthralled crowd. “It was not so great, but I felt I did my best today. I felt calm today, but I am not sure if my calmness led to me being more focused,” the two-time world champion explained. Pulkinen produced a quadruple toeloop, triple Axel, triple Lutz-triple toeloop and solid spins in his routine to “Caruso” to set a personal best of 89.05 points.

Helsingin Luistelijat järjestää toimintaa kolmessa taitoluistelun alalajissa, jäätanssissa, muodostelmaluistelussa ja yksinluistelussa, vastatakseen jäsenistönsä tarpeisiin jopa elämänmittaisten taitoluistelu-urien eri vaiheissa liikuntalain mukaisesti toimien. Organisaationa Helsingin Luistelijat pyrkii jatkuvasti kehittämään toimintaansa vuorovaikutuksessa jäsenistönsä kanssa hyvää hallintotapaa noudattaen. Jäsenistölle pyritään suomaan mahdollisuuksia nauttia taitoluistelusta yli lajirajojen, ja toisaalta sekä kehittämään että hyödyntämään koko henkilökunnan erilaisia erikoisosaamisalueita kaikkien kolmen lajin hyväksi. Urheilullisena tavoitteena Helsingin Luistelijoilla on menestyä kansallisissa ja kansainvälissä kilpailuissa sekä varmistaa luistelijoillemme yksilölliseen kehitykseen ja kokonaisvaltaiseen terveyteen sitoutunut urheilijan polku kannustavassa ympäristössä.
