THE FUTURE OF A TRADITION

NBC HISTORY

The National Baseball Congress was first played in 1935. However, the idea came a few years prior when Hap Dumont formed the idea of creating a State Tournament. The idea was conceived after watching a Sunday baseball game between circus clowns and local firemen. Hap Dumont, equipped with his new stadium, agreed to pay $1,000 to arguably the best ever, , to come play in the inaugural NBC Semi-Pro National Tournament, thus the NBC World Series was formed.

With over 800 NBC alumni having played at the Major League level, we will continue to strive to bring the very best talent to Wichita every year. HISTORY OF EVENTS 1935 1940 1948 1949

The National Baseball Congress envisions a proud future in which Hap Dumont’s original vision is instilled and passed on for future generations, and enhanced through continued hard work and dedication, so that our community, fans, players, and partners will continue to benefit by enjoying our national pastime.

Our mission at the NBC is to perpetuate, grow and popularize the National Baseball Congress World Series as the premier summer showcase in the nation for baseball players; to maximize the outreach, sanctioning, league activities, and effectiveness of the National Baseball Congress; to promote baseball in the Wichita, Kansas area; and to establish lasting partnerships, sponsorships and other cooperative pursuits. STRUCTURES FOR SUCCESS

We will pursue long-lasting partnerships with government bodies, private commercial businesses, private non- commercial organizations, non-profit charitable institutions, individuals and volunteers to accomplish our objectives.

We recognize the need to establish the National Baseball Congress as a sustainable cultural asset, not only to the City of Wichita but also to the nation. INITIATIVES

In order to shepherd our comprehensive plan toward reality, the NBC programs need financial sponsors, donors, active volunteers and charitable partners. We envision bringing disadvantaged youth, young people in summer programs, scouts, senior citizens and a host of community social program sponsors to Lawrence-Dumont Stadium for the World Series as part of plan to make the NBC a major cultural and social asset in Wichita and surrounding areas. We will strengthen partnerships with the City of Wichita, the Sedgwick County Commission, Visit Wichita, GWASC, as well as Foundations, sponsors, donors and volunteers.

The construction of an on-site, freestanding NBC national office at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium with an on-site museum connected to the NBC office, operating as an integrated program. COMPETITION

The NBC will create attractive incentive and benefit packages for leagues and teams by striving to provide low cost, comprehensive insurance coverage; by continuing to teams and leagues money by supplying low-cost merchandise; and by providing to league and regional tournament champions an automatic bid to the NBC World Series.

We will publish and deliver a monthly newsletter to each affiliated team and league, highlighting individuals, managers, players, owners, coaches and others, emphasizing the NBC brand, its advantages, and recommending rule consistency. PARTNERSHIPS

The National Baseball Congress will provide a Business Value Proposition (BVP) that outlines benefits for our for- profit partners. The NBC is not looking for a handout, we understand and are prepared to go above and beyond simple fund development and focus on these primary goals:

• Meet the business objectives of each partner.

• Have a clear focus and impact on the greater good, which drives the success of any cross-sector partnership.

• Find the brand fit as it’s important to align partners with an appropriate association between two partners that is intellectually, emotionally and practically compatible.

The NBC will then develop a good understanding of the potential partner’s priorities. Put together a presentation that shows by working with the National Baseball Congress and creating this partnership, multiple benefits and objectives can be achieved. 110 S Main St Suite 600 Wichita, KS 67202 nbcbaseball.com
