Fraternity and Sorority Life Advising & Liaison Program What is the FSL Advising & Liaison Program? To give each chapter the direct, intentional, and specialized support needed to be an effective organization, Fraternity and Sorority Life has developed the FSL Advising & Liaison Program. This program aims to help chapter leaders develop and grow in their roles, while simultaneously supporting the entire chapter membership in the areas of programming, event planning, personal and professional development, risk management, and member education. The FSL Advising & Liaison Program is three-pronged, with each separate entity working collaboratively to best support each chapter: 1. Individual organization alumni/ae advisory teams 2. Assigned Fraternity and Sorority Life staff advisor 3. Villanova University on-campus faculty/staff liaison While FSL staff advisor assignments are pre-determined, chapters are responsible for selecting, solidifying, and building their on-campus faculty/staff liaison relationship(s). Each chapter must provide the Fraternity and Sorority Life staff information regarding at least one on-campus faculty/staff liaison – including a signed On-Campus Faculty/Staff Liaison Agreement Form – with the Start of the Semester Packet by Friday, September 1, 2017 at 5 p.m. FSL staff advisors and on-campus faculty/staff liaisons can help with the following: Event planning, budget and finances, chapter educational presentations, conduct and accountability conversations, resource and campus partner connections, leadership and professional

I am pleased that you have chosen to attend Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU). This is an exciting time for you, entering college, making new friends, choosing a major. Another important decision you have to make is whether to join a Greek letter organizaiton. The challenges and rewards of college life can be enhanced through the fraternity or sorority experience, especially on a commuter campus like NEIU. So what is Greek Life? It’s hard to define something so meaningful. Members of the Greek system are dedicated to scholarship, leadership, community service, and fellowship which all combine to enhance your college experience. Being a member of a fraternity or sorority is a great way to become involved in the campus community. The current Greek system of NEIU consists of 14 Greek chapters and several interests groups. This includes both national and local organizations. Each organization is centered around distinguishable principles and ideals. Look for the one that fits with your ideals and beliefs. Ask members questions about their organizations or the Greek system in general. If you are interested in starting a chapter that is not currently here, please contact the Greek Expansion Coordinator at [email protected] for assistance. If you have questions that are not answered within this booklet, you may contact me at 773-442-4667 or email [email protected] You can also check out the Greek Life tab at www.neiu.edu/sld I look forward to assisting you in any way possible! Whether you are a fraternity/sorority member, a prospective member, a parent, faculty or staff member, student, or a guest of the university, we are happy to welcome and introduce you to the unique, and award-winning, community of fraternities/sororities in the College. The uR fraternity/sorority system is aligned with the educational philosophy of the College. due to the intentional connection to the academic mission of the College, the organizations appreciate the value of being a part of a learning community. We support a framework that assumes fraternities and sororities can and want to be successful and that the College’s role is to expect and to provide support for their success. The system stresses the importance of autonomy of action within a framework of shared systems, goals, and objectives (expectations for excellence). We believe our success-driven model represents a unique and effective model for the university of Rochester. We are proud of the success achieved by both our chapters and individual members. Annually uR chapters and members are recognized with top national awards for their excellence in scholarship, leadership, programming, service, and risk management. Many members of our fraternity/sorority community are also leaders of a variety of organizations on campus including, but not limited to, Student Government, Class Councils, cultural groups, and academic undergraduate councils. We are fortunate to have many faculty and staff, including thed ean of Students, the dean of Freshmen, and the dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, involved as Chapter Advocates who volunteer to assist organizations in planning and implementing their expectations for excellence and related programs.

  • SORC) August 2019
Report of the Student Organization Review Committee (SORC) August 2019 Description The Student Organization Review Committee (SORC) was created by a subcommittee of the Charter Committee for Building Social Community at Trinity College and was first convened in December 2013. SORC is composed of two students, two faculty members, and one staff member. The committee currently meets twice per semester. The purpose of this report is to describe the work of SORC during the 2018-2019 academic year. This document will describe the annual review process, provide an update on the work of the Committee and conclude with recommendations regarding the work of SORC. Purpose SORC annually reviews selective social organizations to assess progress toward compliance with the standards set by the Charter Committee’s subcommittee. Selective social organizations are defined as all social organizations with a dedicated facility (regardless of ownership), selective membership, and/or initiation process. These include Greek Letter Organizations, theme houses, and cultural houses. SORC is not a disciplinary body. Rather, the committee determines whether an organization has met the standards set by the College. The committee also provides constructive feedback to each organization with suggestions for improvement during the next review period. Reporting Process For the annual review, each organization is provided a form or “report” with the following prompts: What is the event or accomplishment through which your organization contributed most to the campus or broader community? Please connect your organization’s values to the new mission statement of the college. Engage. Connect. Transform. As the preeminent liberal arts college in an urban setting, Trinity College prepares students to be bold, independent thinkers who lead transformative lives.

  • NALFO Response to Covid-19
Contact: National President, Elizaveta F. Reyes Tomé [email protected] Wednesday, March 18, 2020 NALFO Responds to COVID-19 Concerns by Going Virtual for the Spring 2020 Business Meeting The NALFO Executive Board discussed the COVID-19 situation and the upcoming Spring Business Meeting, originally scheduled to take place in Newark, NJ from May 29- May 30. After careful consideration for our member organizations and the overall health and well-being of our communities, we have decided to move forward with a virtual meeting rather than an in-person meeting. The meeting will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 beginning at 11 am Eastern Time. Registration details and full agenda will be made available to member organizations by the end of April. Considering all efforts by our communities, municipalities and member organizations to address concerns around COVID-19 and contain its impact, the Executive Board felt that a move to a virtual format was in everyone’s best interest. The Executive Board is concerned with the added stress that this health crisis has created for the headquarters of our predominantly volunteer driven member organizations. Eliminating the need for travel and having to be represented at an in-person meeting during uncertain times will help to alleviate some of these stressors. The Executive Board also recognizes the economic impact that COVID-19 will have on our member organizations and our communities and is looking to reduce costs to pass that onto our members. Colleges and Universities around the country have shut down, sending students home or leaving some at the mercy of friends and neighbors for housing.
