The mountains behind the vineyards play an important role in ameliorating the summer heat offering shade in the mornings, allowing the grapes to ripen more slowly, build flavour and retain natural acidity. In the winter the snow-capped mountains allow the vines to remain dormant longer than they would in an exposed environment.

The farm is virtually on the shores of False Bay and is overlooked by the impressive Hottentots Holland Mountains.
