USA Basketball Developmental National Team Summer 2012 - Vol USA Basketball Developmental National Team Summer 2012 - Vol. 2 What: USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team • In an effort to field strong, experienced teams and to help mentor young players, USA Basketball founded the Developmental National Team program in 2009-10. • The DNT emcompasses all USA Basketball men’s high-school age teams and training camps, including the FIBA Americas U16 Championship, the FIBA U17 World Championship, the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, the Nike Hoop Summit and FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championship. USA Basketball & The NBA Draft 9 Gold: 2012 Olympics 10 In Their Words: USA Quotes 11 usabasketball.com VIDEO: Summer’s Best 12 719-590-4800 DNT: Road Map & Calendar 13 1 NEXT UP: DNT Miini-Camp • 46 athletes accepted inviatations to the 2012 USA DNT mini-camp Oct. 6-7 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. • The camp will help USA Basketball train and evaluate members of the classes of 2015 and 2016. • 34 players (born on or after 1/01/97) are eligible for all upcoming DNT events, including the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship. • 12 players (born before 01/01/96) will train for future events such as the 2014 FIBA Americas U18 Championship and the Nike Hoop Summit. • Camp will be led by four-time gold-medal winning USA coach Don Showallter, with help from Missouri AAU coach LJ Goollsby, Boston AAU coach Leo Papille, and Colorado Springs coaches Terry Dunn and James Lane. • The 20-25 member 2013-14 DNT roster The lead clinician at the upcoming mini-camp, Don Showalter is a three-time USA Basketball will be announced in Spring 2013. Developmental Coach of the Year. 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship • Along with the USA, seven national teams from the FIBA Americas zone, which includes North, South and Central America and the Caribbean, the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship will take place on June 12-16 in Uruguay. • The top four finishing teams in the zone qualifier earn a berth into the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship. • The USA is 10-0 in FIBA Americas U16 play, having collected gold in the inaugural event in 2009 and in 2011. USA Basketball conducts many of its training camps at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
