The reason for the initial robotics competition was that Dean L. Kamen (the inventor of the personal transport vehicle Segway / Segway) found that fewer children had science and technology as professions in the

United States, so he wanted to run a similar sports The science and technology competition to encourage American high school students to be exposed to science and technology, so FRC is not just a robot competition, but also the expectations of founder Kamen.

This fun and educational FRC competition attracts high school students from around the world every year. About 3660 teams and nearly 90,000 students form a team to participate in this large-scale event.

Since 2017, the Ministry of Science and Technology and various science parks have actively promoted the FRC. The number of domestic participating teams has increased from 3 teams in 2017 to 29 teams in 2019, and went to Hawaii in the United States in March (2019),Pittsburgh and Sydney, Australia participate in the international regional competition of FRC.

In the second year of the FRC, National Nanke International Senior High School 6998 team won the "Entrepreneurship Award" in the Hawaii Regional Competition. Although they no fate to qualify for the qualifying round, students' efforts and performance have been affirmative by the outside world.

The FRC robot competition allows students to learn not only scientific and technological knowledge and practical capabilities, but also practical experience after joining the society in the future, such as teamwork and discipline, fundraising, organizational operation and management, or self-brand marketing and management. Promotion, etc. Through multi-faceted learning, children participating in this activity can learn about the operation of society earlier than

5 their peers, and the various tests that may be encountered are also considered to be an alternative small society. In order to allow Taiwanese high school students to experience international-level venue specifications without going abroad, the Taichung Science and Technology Administration Bureau and the World Robotics Competition Headquarters signed a memorandum of cooperation in April 2019, prompting the FRC regional competition to be held in the Taichung Science Park in 2020. The financial burden that students need to go abroad can also allow contestants from all over the world to come to Taiwan and see Taiwan.
