When your training kicks in and everything just flows… When you suddenly realise your full potential. Big things. SLOW MOTION GOING TO NORMAL SPEED AND CRICKET BALL (SFX: crack of bat hitting DISAPPEARING OUT OF FRAME ball) VIDEO MONTAGE WITH (THEME MUSIC UP) HIGHLIGHTS FROM CHRIS’ CAREER (THEME MUSIC DOWN & UNDER) CHRIS: MS: CHRIS Hi, I’m Chris Lynn from the Brisbane Heat and Kolkata Knight Riders. Welcome to the CL T20 Academy. In a moment, I’ll be revealing what support you’ll enjoy as an academy squad member, but to ensure that you’ll get the most out © Copyright Paul Walden 2016 1 of our work together, I’ll start by covering some ground rules. CU: CHRIS If you’re serious about your professional cricket career, there are a few things you should know. Firstly, that everything you do creates habits that affect your game. Over time, cricket literally becomes part of you – it’s in your muscle memory and in how you instinctively react in certain situations. So practice the right techniques the right way, or you’ll have to unlearn before you can develop further. FROM THIS POINT ONWARD, Good habits are about more ALTERNATING HALF-BODY, than what you do on the CLOSE-UPS AND APPROPRIATE field, though. As I grew up, TOPICAL FOOTAGE my parents always used to nag me to do well in school. They were right. Not only because there’s a life after your cricket career, but because always applying yourself 100% reinforces the dedication you need as a professional. Of course, you’ll also find it a lot easier to focus on your game when everything around you is working out. It’s like Darren Lehmann told me: “when life is good off the field, it’s good on the field”. © Copyright Paul Walden 2016 2 With the right guidance, you’ll soon realise that you (CONTINUED) can draw on all sorts of ALTERNATING HALF-BODY, experiences to improve your CLOSE-UPS AND APPROPRIATE game. As an academy squad TOPICAL FOOTAGE member, you’ll learn to live by this code. Secondly, be aware that not everyone will understand the path you are on. That probably goes even for some of the players in your cricket team. Not everyone will have your level of ambition, and it can be easy to get distracted from achieving your goals. Make sure that you listen to the right people. At CL T20, I’ll share my own skills and experiences as well as the collective knowledge of my specialist coaches, physiotherapists, nutritionists and other elite professionals with you. Having already passed the milestones that are still ahead of you, I’ll let you know what obstacles you can expect to come up next. Which leads me to the third point: Don’t despair if you face adversity. If you’re dropped from a team, if you’re struggling with an injury or if you feel that you simply cannot take it to the next level. I’ve been there. Before I joined the tour as a professional player, I was st nd dropped from 1 to 2 -grade cricket, and I’ve worked my © Copyright Paul Walden 2016 3 way back from some pretty severe injuries. (CONTINUED) Accept what is, and find the ALTERNATING HALF-BODY, inspiration to overcome the CLOSE-UPS AND APPROPRIATE challenge. It’s a skill that TOPICAL FOOTAGE you’ll have plenty of use for in all areas of life. Much of what you see at CL T20 is built on this kind of resilience, because that’s what it takes to become a professional cricketer. Ok, one last word of wisdom before we get to your CL T20 membership: keep it fun. Nothing will make you play better than your love for the game. CL T20 LOGO Now, let’s look at exactly what kind of support your CHRIS, MIXED SHOTS academy membership gives you. It is, in a word, comprehensive. Has to be. You see, cricket is just CU: BALL IN HAND like the ball you play with – all sides are interconnected. True, you CHRIS, MIXED SHOTS can specialise as a batter, bowler or fielder, but you can never excel in either position without having a thorough understanding of the others. Being able to predict how the opposing batters, bowlers and fielders will react to your strategies is hugely important. As is being able to communicate wordlessly with your own teammates. To be the complete package on the field, you have to © Copyright Paul Walden 2016 4 TOSSING UP BALL AND CATCHING become a well-rounded IT AGAIN player. Your success hinges on this game awareness. • IPL 2018 the Annual Report on the Business Value of the Indian Premier League and the Most Valuable Franchise Brands
IPL 2018 The annual report on the business value of the Indian Premier League and the most valuable franchise brands June 2018 Foreword. Brand Finance has calculated the brand value of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and each of its teams annually since 2009. This research has helped decision makers to obtain a deep understanding of the value of the brands taking part in the world’s premier domestic cricket competition. With its exciting on-field action, packed stands, and hundreds of millions of viewers across the globe, the IPL is clearly the leading Twenty 20 league. The competition has proved a massive hit with fans, players, and sponsors, so it is not surprising that it is now at the forefront of the world of cricket with its innovative ways and huge crowds at stadiums. The world’s cricket superstars are all taking part, creating a league, which supported by a clear strategic vision, is unlikely to be challenged in the foreseeable future. Savio D'Souza Director, Brand Finance Rollercoaster Journey The past decade has been challenging for the IPL. It has been confronted by legal issues, by team instability, by venue problems, and by political interference. The flexibility of the IPL ecosystem to overcome these challenges and the tournament’s continued mass appeal to mainstream audiences demonstrate that the IPL brand continues to hold great strength in the eyes of its key stakeholders. In 2009, Brand Finance valued the IPL business as being worth US$2 billion, doubling the following year due to the tournament’s huge initial success.
