It is twice the size of the state of California and possesses rich stores of many important minerals. The Black population of Namibia has endured colonial exploitation, first, at the hands of Germany, and then, for the last 69 years, by racist South Africa.

The People's Organization (SWAPO) has been waging a war of national liberation for over 20 years against the repression of the regime of South Africa. South Africa would like the 70,000 white settlers in Namibia to retain control of Namibia instead of the over one million Africans who historically are the true owners of the land and its wealth.

The Washington, D.C. community and the Southern Africa Support Project (SASP) join in solidarity with the people of Namibia to work towards the elimination of South African oppression in the region and the establishment of a just and moral government of the people •
