Vasconcelos Abstract One new subspecies of Sevenia amulia (Cramer, 1777) (Nymphalidae, Biblidinae) is described from Príncipe Island and compared with the previously known subspecies. Two faunistic novelties are reported from São Tomé Island and for the country: one species of Lycaenidae (Polyommatinae), another of Nymphalidae (Heliconiinae). The presence on Príncipe Island of another species, an endemic Hesperiidae (Hesperiinae) not reported from the country for almost a century, is confirmed and commented. Joshi* Desert Regional Centre, ZSI (Ministry of Environment and Forests), Post-Jhalamand, Jodhpur Rajasthan, INDIA *Department of Zoology and Environmental Science, Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidayalaya, Haridwar, Uttarakhand, INDIA ABSTRACT : A detailed study on the butterfly species diversity was carried out at Dholbaha dam, in district Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India during 2002-04. The study area has a moist deciduous forest surrounding it. A total of 41 butterfly species belonging to 5 families of order Lepidoptera were recorded during the study period. The family Nymphalidae, represented by 19 species was the most dominant followed by Pieridae (10 species), Lycaenidae (8 species), Papilionidae (3 species) and Hesperiidae (1 species). Eurema hecabe (Linn.) was the most dominant species of Butterfly in terms of number of individuals followed by Danaus chrysippus (Linn.), Euchrysops cnejus (Fabr.), Euploea core (Cramer), Junonia lemonias Linn., Catopsilia pyranthe Linn. so on and least by Graphium sarpedon luctatius Fruhstorfer and Delias eucharis Drury. From the conservation point of view, the study area is undisturbed and rich in flora and fauna species. Abstract. This study is focused on the presence of Freyeria trochylus (Freyer, 1844) and Zizeeria karsandra (Moore, 1865) on Rodos Island, Greece. F. trochylus was first found there by Turati and Fiori in 1923 and Z. karsandra by Bender in 1958. The distributional range of both species in Europe including the Mediterra- nean and their habitat and ecology, including their associations with ants, together with their life history and larval hostplants are examined. The life cycle of Z. karsandra is described and illustrated here for the first time for Europe as a whole.     Biodiversity Summary for NRM Regions Species List What is the summary for and where does it come from? This list has been produced by the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (SEWPC) for the Natural Resource Management Spatial Information System. The list was produced using the AustralianAustralian Natural Natural Heritage Heritage Assessment Assessment Tool Tool (ANHAT), which analyses data from a range of plant and animal surveys and collections from across Australia to automatically generate a report for each NRM region. Data sources (Appendix 2) include national and state herbaria, museums, state governments, CSIRO, Birds Australia and a range of surveys conducted by or for DEWHA. For each family of plant and animal covered by ANHAT (Appendix 1), this document gives the number of species in the country and how many of them are found in the region. It also identifies species listed as Vulnerable, Critically Endangered, Endangered or Conservation Dependent under the EPBC Act. A biodiversity summary for this region is also available.
