On August 10, 2006, the Wesleyan Men’s Soccer Team will embark on a 12-day tour of the greatest soccer country in the world. The tour will include four competitive games, exciting adventures in the countryside, attendance of a professional game, and much more. There is no better way to prepare for the 2006 campaign. The team will be involved in many fundraising activities to help finance the trip, but we will rely on the generous donations of our alumni and friends to make up the difference. Calendars, t-shirts, and hats will kick off our fundraising followed by soccer clinics and the working of other Wes events.

Coach’s Corner

De ar Family, Friends, and Alumni: To say it’s been a long time would be an understatement – over two and a half years. To say we have had nothing to report would also be untrue. Wesleyan soccer continues to improve and reach new heights. The 2009 squad went undefeated, the 2010 team knocked off Williams again in the NESCAC playoffs, and the 2011 squad won the first outright Little Three Title in over 20 years! And these are just a few of the achievements of the program. I think what will always stand out among these teams, though, are the friendships we have developed and the memories we will share for a lifetime. To see Asante Brooks up on a horse during our trip to Argentina… priceless. To see Eric Mandell develop from a B-team player into a starter in his senior year, scoring a goal against Conn. College…priceless. To have Evan Hazelett ’13 and Matt Lynch ’15 sing the national anthem on senior day…priceless. These are the moments that make Wesleyan soccer special for me. Going forward, Wes Soccer is eager to maintain its current momentum. To do so, we need your continued support! Below, there are several different ways to get involved, whether it’s through a donation, participating in the A+ program (see below), or just coming to a game. I believe it’s an exciting time to be a part of our program, so I hope you’ll join us in continuing to make Wesleyan soccer one of the best in the country. Thanks so much for all your support thus far. A special word to the players’ parents: the post-game tailgates for players and family are truly incredible. Every year, they seem to somehow get better. I know my little ones (Sam 7, Max 4, Maisy 2 and Kai, 3 months), love the good eats after a great match. The parents’ efforts help make our program what it is!
