Apple Clips: How To Make and Share Videos (iPad or iPhone)

Introducing Clips, a new iOS app for making and sharing “expressive videos” with text, effects, graphics, and more.

Step 1. Download Clips from the App Store on your iPad or iPhone.

Step 2. Capture a Moment. Getting started is simple and quick. Just hold the red button to record video on the spot, or grab a video clip or photo from anywhere in your library.

To insert an existing photo or video from your camera roll, tap on the library tab (beneath the live view), tap on the Albums button, tap on the photo or video you want to insert. Tap the Record Audio button to add live audio. Touch and hold Hold to Add This Clip/Photo to insert.

To save a photo to your camera roll from the web or from an email, tap and hold your finger on the image until the sharing menu appears. Select Save Image to automatically save the photo to your Camera Roll. To access the photo, open the Photos app on your device and select the Camera Roll.

Step 3. Voice-Dictated Captions. Live Titles let you easily create animated captions and titles – just by talking. Simply speak while recording, and text automatically appears onscreen in real time, perfectly synced with your voice. Choose from different syles and tap any title to adjust text and punctuation.

To enable live titles, simply tap the speech bubble on the toolbar at the top of the screen.

Step 4. Add filters. Give your videos personality with a range of photo and video filters. To browse the filters, tap the comprised of three circles and tap the filter you’d like to apply.

Step 5. Add graphics and titles. Apple offers users the ability to drag and drop a selection of graphics on-screen to help depict what is happening, including location and time-specific graphics. To browse the graphics, tap the Star icon on the top of the display and then tap the graphic you’d like to use.

Users can also browse title sequences to add, ranging from step-based sequences to birthday sequences and more. To browse the title sequences, tap the T icon on the top of the page, tap the sequence you’d like to use, tap the text to edit if needed, then ‘record’ the title sequence by tapping and holding the record button.

Revised August 2017 2 Step 6. Add music to your video. Set the mood with dozens of music tracks that instantly and intelligently adjust to match the length of your video. To access the music menu, tap the music note icon in the top-right of the screen. You can browse from the provided soundtracks or from your personal library.

Step 7. Rearrange your video. To play back your movie in its entirety, tap the Play icon in the bottom-right of the screen. If you notice a title sequence or video clip is in the wrong place, tap and hold the specific clip at the bottom of the screen and drag it to where you want it to be moved to. You can also tap on a clip to trim the length, mute the audio or delete it if it’s no longer needed.

Step 8. Save and share your video. To save your finished masterpiece, tap the arrow in the top-left hand corner to minimize the project and take you back to the main menu. Make sure the project is highlighted, then tap the Share icon in the bottom- right of the display to save it to your camera roll by clicking Save Video or post to your favorite platforms (such as Google Drive or iCloud Photos).

To save your video to Google Drive, click the Copy to Drive button and click Save to Google Drive. The video will be saved to the root folder in your Google Drive account.
