MATERIALS

• 5400-556 Lion Brand Martha Stewart Crafts Extra Soft Wool Blend: Green Eucalyptus 3 3, 4 Balls • Boye Aluminum Needles 16 inches Size 7 • Boye Aluminum Circular Knitting Needles 29 inches Size 7 optional • Lion Brand Split Ring Stitch Markers • Large-Eye Blunt Needles (Set of 6)

GAUGE:

19 sts + 27 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR . When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

M1 (make 1) An worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop - 1 st increased. ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog - 1 st decreased.

NOTES:

1. Poncho is worked in rnds, beg at neck. 2. Poncho has folded hems at Neckband and lower edge. Neckband is folded across a purl turning ridge, and lower edge is folded across a picot edge. 3. If desired, when sts are sufficiently increased, change to longer circular needles. PONCHO Neckband With shorter circular needles, cast on 102 (106, 112) sts. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts. Note: In next rnd, markers are placed for sides of Poncho, dividing sts in half. You may wish to use different color markers for side markers than for beg of rnd marker. Rnd 1 (RS): K25 (26, 28), pm, k51 (53, 56), pm, k to end. Rnd 2 ( Rnd): (K to 2 sts before marker, ssk, sl marker, k1, k2tog) twice, k to end of rnd - 98 (102, 108) sts at the end of this rnd. Sl markers as you come to them. Rnds 3 and 4: Knit. Rnds 5-10: Rep last 3 rnds 2 times - 90 (94, 100) sts rem. Rnd 11 (Turning Ridge): Purl. Body Rnd 12: Knit. Rnd 13 (Increase): (K to marker, M1, sl marker, k1, M1) twice, k to end - 94 (98, 104) sts at the end of this rnd. Rnds 14 and 15: Knit. Rep last 3 rnds 25 (29, 32) times - 194 (214, 232) sts when all increases are completed. Picot Hem Next Rnd (Picot Edge): *Yo, k2tog; rep from * around. Knit 3 rnds. Bind off.

FINISHING Fold neckband to WS along turning ridge and sew in place. Fold picot hem to WS along picot edge and sew in place. Weave in ends.
