At a ceremony held in 1998, the press box at Butterfield Stadium was renamed the Dick Lyon Press Box in honor of the former Bomber coach. The ceremony, which was part of Ithaca’s Homecoming Weekend festivities, also coincided with the 40th anniversary of the first football game played at the facility (formerly known as South Hill Field).
