Call for : Project Work Space

The Art Colony invites Cook County resident artists to apply for temporary project space in its new building: Studio 21, at 21 W Hwy 61. The space is available immediately through May 2020 for artists working in a variety of media.

Interested artists who would like to see the project space are asked to attend one of three open house sessions already scheduled:

October 24 | 12 – 2 pm October 26 | 10 am – 12 pm October 29 | 4 – 6 pm

If none of these dates works for you, please contact the Art Colony to set up an alternative time.

Access and Cost

Artists will receive 24-hour access to their studio space, which includes a water source and bathroom as well as shared, mini-kitchen. Artists are expected to provide their own work surfaces and other necessary studio equipment.

Cost is $375/month.

Note that while some forms of may be possible to host, there is not a ventilation system in this studio nor is there outdoor work space.

2 PROJECT WORK PLAN

Provide a brief synopsis of your work plan, including three specific objectives you plan to accomplish during your rental time. Also indicate the number of months you'd like to rent up to the ending date of May 31, 2020.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Include an statement (not more than one page in length) that describes your artistic vision, body of work, and professional goals.

MISC REQUIREMENTS & INFORMATION • Renting artist will be required to sign a Hold Harmless agreement assuring that the renting artist is responsible for all personal items. • Renting artist is required to return space to its original condition or will incur additional fees that would reimburse the Art Colony for any expenditures. • While the studio space is able to be closed off, the building itself is a shared space and there may be other activities or independent artists, etc. going on at the direction and approval of the Art Colony, including potential facilities projects. • Renting artists must be prepared to take care of their own garbage and housekeeping needs and will sign a contract outlining responsibilities.

SUBMISSION TIMELINE

Applications will be received on an on-going basis but also reviewed as they are received and decisions are expected to occur as soon as possible.
