Brett Moffitt Race Preview Cornelius, N.C BRETT MOFFITT RACE PREVIEW CORNELIUS, N.C. — No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine driver Brett Moffitt makes his 13th career NASCAR Sprint Cup start this weekend when the Follow us on Twitter series visits the 1.5-mile oval at Texas Motor Speedway. @brett_moffitt @mwrteam @aaronssports Moffitt is substituting for Brian Vickers as he recovers from blood clots. Despite owning only three career starts in the XFINITY and Camping World truck series, the 22-year-old Grimes, Iowa native is holding his own in the Sprint Cup Series. Moffitt notched an eighth-place finish at Atlanta and a No. 55 PIT CREW 22nd-place finish at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Billy Scott Crew Chief The nine-time K&N East Series winner says that lack of experience in those series has not diminished his Ryan Langley Front Tire Changer expectations. Chris Hall Front Tire Carrier Shannon Myers Rear Tire Changer MOFFITT ON EXPECTATIONS: Blake Haugland Rear Tire Carrier “Everyone seems to have low Wes Evans Jack Man expectations for me. I think that’s Jeff Kerr Gas Man because I haven't run in the truck or XFINITY Series. But that’s OK Steve Channing Car Chief by me. I can’t control that. I have David Cropps Interior Mechanic high expectations myself. I want Roman Pemberton Spotter to run top-10 every weekend. Brandon Pope Race Engineer Heck, I think about how we can Joe Bisson 2nd Engineer get to victory lane. I’m demanding of myself. We proved at Atlanta Jeremy Sharpley Shock Specialist we can get top-10s. At Kevin White Front Mechanic Martinsville I think we had a real Joe Zanolini Rear Mechanic shot to get another top 10 based Scott Swift Tire Specialist on our lap times. We got our hood messed up early and lost five laps. If we raced Kirk Butterfield TRD there tomorrow I would expect a top 10. I expect as good a run this weekend at Tim Bruce TRD Texas as we had at Atlanta.” Stump Lewis Truck Driver PLANS FOR REST OF THE SEASON “We’re taking it week-by-week. My job and Al Nelson 2nd Truck Driver focus is to drive the Aaron’s Dream Machine to the best of my abilities every week. CHASSIS NOTES If we get the results I expect then everything else will fall into place.” Primary: 775 - Has not ADVICE FROM OTHER DRIVERS: raced “Brian Vickers and Clint Bowyer have Backup: 814 - finished 8th been very supportive and helpful not at Atlanta with Moffitt. NASCAR Sponsorship: Who is the Real Winner? An event study proposal A thesis submitted to the Miami University Honors Program in partial fulfillment of the requirements for University Honors with Distinction by Meredith Seurkamp May 2006 Oxford, Ohio ii ABSTRACT NASCAR Sponsorship: Who is the Real Winner? An event study proposal by Meredith Seurkamp This paper investigates the costs and benefits of NASCAR sponsorship. Sports sponsorship is increasing in popularity as marketers attempt to build more personal relationships with their consumers. These sponsorships range from athlete endorsements to the sponsorship of an event or physical venue. These types of sponsorships have a number of costs and benefits, as reviewed in this paper, and the individual firm must use its discretion whether sports sponsorship coincides with its marketing goals. NASCAR, a sport that has experienced a recent boom in popularity, is one of the most lucrative sponsorship venues in professional sports. NASCAR, which began as a single race in 1936, now claims seventy-five million fans and over one hundred FORTUNE 500 companies as sponsors. NASCAR offers a wide variety of sponsorship opportunities, such as driver sponsorship, event sponsorship, track signage, and a number of other options. This paper investigates the fan base at which these marketing messages are directed. Research of NASCAR fans indicates that these fans are typically more brand loyal than the average consumer. NASCAR fans exhibit particular loyalty to NASCAR sponsors that financially support the auto racing sport. The paper further explains who composes the NASCAR fan base and how NASCAR looks to expand into additional markets.

The Land O’ Lakes, Florida, native’s passion for motorsports began when he started racing at age 5. As a kid, Scott raced anything he could, from three-wheelers to motorcycles to go-karts. As his racing career progressed at paved short tracks across Florida, Scott competed in a variety of racecars including, Mini Stocks, Street Stocks, open-wheel Modifieds and Late Models. After completing two years in the mechanical engineering program at the University of South Florida, Scott moved to North Carolina in 1998 and enrolled in the Bobby Isaac Motorsports Technology Program at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory. While he furthered his education, Scott transitioned from racing to working on the racecars of others.
