FROM THE VICE -CHANCELLOR’S DESK

FROM THE DESK OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR

I am happy to write a few lines in this issue of our University Newsletter which highlights the significant works and contributions made in the field of teaching, research, infrastructural facilities and other initiatives implemented during July-December 2017.

I am proud to say that Mangalore University has become more vibrant and proactive in terms of academic and research activities. During the last three years, student enrolment has increased considerably. For the first time, nearly 200 international students from different parts of the world have joined our university. The university provides good research facilities through PURSE, Microtron Centre, CARRT, CARER, etc. The h-index has risen from 31 in 2014 to 61 in 2017 as per Scopus. Mangalore University has been ranked in the third position at the national level by UI Green Metric World Ranking. Our University is one among 26 State Universities in the country selected for having GIAN programmes. Mangalore University is one of the top 3 universities on the basis of QS ranking (Thomson Reuters, USA) in State. This has boosted the image of the University globally.

Mangalore University has introduced sports policy for the first time in the State. Our students have also performed well in sports and cultural activities at the national level. The NSS volunteers are actively participating in Swacch Bharath programme and other social activities like blood donation, social forestry, etc.

I would like to congratulate the faculty, staff and students for their consistent support towards achieving excellence in higher education. I also appreciate the dedicated work done by the editorial committee of the Newsletter.
