Bellisario College of Communications at Penn … + FIND & SEARCH COMMMEDIA Sports Home News Sports Centre County Report CommRadio Photos Covid-19 Arts & Entertainment Best of CommMedia Ole Miss Storms Back in Second Half, Shocks Penn Like 0 State at Barclays Center Tweet Story posted November 28, 2019 in Sports, CommRadio by Pasquale Tartaro BROOKLYN, N.Y. — It was a tale of two halves at Barclays Center, as Ole Miss drained six second-half 3-pointers to overcome a 21-point deficit and defeat the Penn State Nittany Lions 74-72 Wednesday night. The opening battle of the NIT Season Tip-Off was characterized by a slow start offensively for both sides early on, but it was clear after tip-off that the Rebels had no answer for Penn State senior forward Mike Watkins on either end. In a sequence that summed up the majority of the first half, Watkins threw down a ferocious dunk off a lob from sophomore guard Myreon Jones. On the very next play, Watkins came up with a steal and went coast to coast for another one of his six first half dunks. A 3-pointer from Jones at the top of the key capped off a 15-4 run to start the game for the Nittany Lions. Despite star forward Lamar Stevens dealing with foul trouble for much of the first half, the Nittany Lions forced a total of 14 turnovers and continued to convert on easy looks in transition.

Ole Miss. We'll introduce the players -- Terence Davis, Devontae Shuler, and Breein Tyree. DEVONTAE SHULER: Definitely for me, too. We definitely got to have a great experience. Of course, Q. Devontae, when you saw the draw and you saw I've never been here, but us going against a D-I college basketball team, we're going to treat it as if it's an SEC Columbia pop up next to your team's name, just regular season game. what was your first thought? DEVONTAE SHULER: It was just an opportunity for me TERENCE DAVIS: And just to go along with them, we to come back home and play in front of my family and three guys who have been playing with each other for friends and also for me to have a better chance to play quite some time. We have no experience in the NCAA better in my home state.
