DIVISION CONTEXTUALIZED POLICIES REGULATING THE OPERATION OF LEARNING MODALITIES

1. Attached are division contextualized policies and guidelines on the use of the modality of instruction which will be utilized in the conduct of classes for 2020-2021.

Contextualized Policies Regulating the Operation of Learning Modalities

Learning Materials Delivery and Retrievals • Learning materials are both in softcopy (online) and printed • Online learners are provided Materials which are softcopy • Blended Distance Learners are provided hardcopies of the learning materials for the first 2 months but shall transition to the use of the MRK thereafter • Modular learners shall be provided with a hardcopy of the learning materials • The provision of the materials shall be made weekly to be scheduled by the school through the use of Drop and Pick (D&P) counters or the School Mobile Delivery Unit (SMDU) • The MRK which will contain the weekly offline materials shall be usable 1 month after the classes will start. • Submission of learners output online or to the D&P counters shall be made weekly, subject to the schedule of the schools

Online Learning Group

• Learners and teachers shall utilize gadgets like laptops, desktop computers and tablets which are connected to the internet; • Edmodo is the official learning management platform adopted by the division • Schools shall provide learning materials online • Schedule of classes will utilize the 2-SOD curriculum as the primary scheduling system • An hour (1) of synchronous (virtual or chat) engagement shall be allocated to be the maximum learning delivery time between learners and teachers per subject per week • 3 hours of independent learning shall be used by learners for asynchronous activities • All teachers shall prepare a PowerPoint presentation for the virtual engagement with the students • The presentation shall be recorded to maximize teachers’ observations of the children during the delivery. He or she may pause whenever needed to throw a question or explanation or call the attention of learners • The recorded presentation shall promote the lesson’s reviewability and repeatability whenever necessary (internet connection problem or students lack of understanding about the lesson)

• Submission of learners’ output shall be online and directly on the Edmodo • The teacher and learners may maintain a group chat using messenger or FB to disseminate information with immediacy • For tutorial purposes concerning complex skills development, teachers may prepare a short video tutorial which can be accessed by learners at anytime • Feedbacking can be scheduled regularly whenever necessary.

Blended Distance Learning

• Learners use this modality when gadget used is smartphones and or android phones, in which capability, is limited and internet connection is made through mobile data • Edmodo is still the official learning management platform • Learners, under this modality, shall still use the 2-SOD curriculum as the primary scheduling system • One hour of virtual engagement shall be the maximum learning delivery time for every subject per week • The remaining 3 hours for every subject shall be utilized for asynchronous or independent learning modality • For the virtual engagement, the teacher may prepare a power point presentation • The teacher shall record her virtual presentation to allow repeatability and reviewability whenever necessary (internet connection issue or lack of learner understanding about the lesson) • The teacher shall record her virtual presentation to increase focus on learners’ participation, reactions and countenances as they attended the virtual engagement • Considering the limitation of the gadget, the learner may extract the learning materials/tasks using her gadget and transfer the activity on another piece of paper • The learner may take a picture of the output using her android phone and submit the same to the folder under Edmodo using the same cellphone • In extreme cases where cellphones are rendered in-operational due to connection problem, learners may use the academic panda to access the use of the MRK and the Drop and Pick System for output submission. • MRK users shall use the academic panda for scheduling purposes. • Teachers who are assigned to each MRK shall check the notification schedule of the learner as entry pass to use the MRK • The Drop and Pick Counters are found in schools, halls and other designated areas, however, it shall not be placed side by side with the MRK to avoid congestion. The schools shall inform their learners of the designated places of the D&P counters.

• Outputs which are deposited in D&P counters shall be sorted and given to teachers weekly for feedbacking purposes. • Schedules for the submission of outputs must be varied for every grade and year level to prevent congestion • In cases where teachers are not allowed to go out because of their age and health concerns, the School Mobile Delivery Unit (SMDU) shall deliver and retrieve the materials to and from the teachers’ respective houses. • The teachers and learners may maintain a group chat using messenger or FB to disseminate information with immediacy • For tutorial purposes concerning complex skills development, teachers may prepare a short video tutorial which can be accessed by learners at anytime • Feedbacking may be scheduled weekly and or monthly.

Modular Learners

• Learners use this modality when they don’t possess any gadget at all or may have possessed analog cellphones and are not connected by any means to the internet • These learners are provided with modules by their respective schools on a weekly basis • Retrieval of the completed modules will be made weekly and shall be submitted to the designated D&P counters in schools or in barangay halls • Submission of the material outputs shall be made by adults in the family; • Schedule of submission must be varied for every grade or year level to prevent congestion • In extreme cases where adults are not available, the school may deploy the SMDU to deliver and retrieve materials on a weekly basis • Collected outputs shall be sorted and delivered to the teachers for feedbacking and checking • Feedbacking of teachers concerning learners’ output may utilize cellphones, letters, online procedures on a monthly basis • Face to face feedbacking may be allowed, subject to the provisions of the IATF guidelines • For those with cable TV, a dedicated channel is provided to assist formative learners in the instruction (Kindergarten- grade 2) • Whenever possible, a radio-based instruction may also be provided for supplementary instruction in reading, writings and arithmetic)
