BLOWOUT VICTORY FOR SUPER MAJESTY IN SUNDAY FEATURE eavily-favored Super Majesty remained undefeated, winning like a future star in the $46,000 feature Sunday at Los Alamitos. Making her first start against winners after a 6 ¼ length debut win May 24 at HSanta Anita, the $400,000 purchase at the 2014 Fasig-Tipton Florida March sale of 2-year-olds, didn’t break alertly, but quickly got in gear while cruising up to early leaders Winning Vision and Imwiththeblonde and the only questions the rest of the way were what would be the margin of victory and the final time. At the finish, the 3-year-old daughter of Super Saver and the Go for Gin mare Gins Majesty had 15 ¼ lengths on 4-1 second choice Ultimate Holiday and completed the six furlongs in 1:08.26.The clocking wasn’t far off the track record of 1:08.18 set by Bernster last Dec. 11. Ridden by Hall of Famer Alex Solis, Super Majesty, who is owned by LNJ Foxwoods and trained by Hall of Famer (left), returned $2.80, $2.10 and $2.10 as the 2-5 favorite. She’s earned $61,200. Ultimate Holiday paid $3.20 and $2.20 while the show price on Winning Vision, who finished 4 ¼ lengths behind Ultimate Holiday, was $2.60. Imwiththeblonde and L.A. Magic completed the order of finish. Grand Yodeler, Magic Lily, On Golden Pawn and Stealth Drone were scratched. The total combined mutuel handle of $8,022,511.76 on the July 4 Jerry Hollendorfer program – highlighted by Gimme Da Lute’s narrow victory in the Grade II, $350,000 – was the largest since returned to Los Alamitos a year ago. The handle increased 5.37 % through the first week of the 2015 Summer Thoroughbred Festival over the inaugural season the previous July. The total handle this year through four days is $26,209,149 compared to $24,873,656 in 2014. Apprentice Bruno Panicucci earned his first win in the United States when 20-1 shot Princess Val captured Saturday’s second race at Los Alamitos. The surprise victory was the fifth in Panicucci’s career, meaning he will now be riding with a seven-pound weight allowance instead of 10.The 19-year-old won four races in Europe before arriving in Southern California earlier this year. Panicucci had crossed the wire first July 2 – opening day of the meet – aboard Pax Tecum, but was disqual- ified and placed third for interference in the stretch. The incident led to a five-day suspension, beginning Thursday, for Panicucci, meaning he will miss the final four days of the Los Alamitos season as well as opening day (July 16) at Del Mar. Racing resumes Thursday at Los Alamitos. Post time is 2:15 p.m.
