Steven Price
STEVEN PRICE COMPOSER Steven Price is an Academy Award winning film composer. His unique, story-driven approach to the craft of film scoring has seen him work on some of the most innovative productions of recent years. From Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity to Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, Steven’s individualistic scores seek to enhance the ideas and images of great filmmakers in truly bespoke ways. Steven’s diverse music reflects the wide range of movie and television projects he has been involved with. Beginning his career in the late 1990s, he contributed to productions such as The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Batman Begins, before making his scoring debut in 2011 with Joe Cornish’s inner-city horror comedy, Attack the Block. Recent years have seen him compose distinctive scores for Claire McCarthy’s reimagining of Hamlet, Ophelia, David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and the Paramount Animation Wonder Park. From his incorporation of original WW2 tanks in the percussion of the Brad Pitt starring Fury to the wind instrument driven score created for Tom Harper’s The Aeronauts, the music created for each production seeks to give each story its unique voice, the result of an experimental and collaborative process. His work in the Natural History realm, working alongside Sir David Attenborough on The Hunt, (for which Steven won a Bafta), and the Netflix Original Our Planet, (nominated for two score Emmys), will continue in 2020 with a new live arena spectacular, Our Planet Live in Concert, the premiere for which will be held at London’s O2 Arena in October 2020. -

BABY DRIVER Written by Edgar Wright 1st Draft Revisions - August 15th 2014 ii. "You are the music while the music lasts." T. S. Eliot "I was born one dark gray morn, with music coming in my ears..." Paul Simon Every scene in this film is driven by music. 1 EXT. PARKING LOT - EARLY MORNING 1 A strip mall in the San Fernando Valley. A front wheel of a car pulls slowly into view. A curb reads ‘Short Stay. 5 Mins Only.’ 2 INT. CAR - CONTINUOUS 2 Play is pressed on an iPod Classic. A rock track starts up. It’s very loud. It’s awesome. ‘Bellbottoms’ by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. On high strings and a guitar stab we see the driver. Young, baby faced. Short cropped hair. He wears mostly black. Sports cheap gas station shades. This is BABY. We can’t see his eyes, but his blank expression seems pretty stoic. He listens to the track, stares out the windshield. On a 2nd guitar stab we see a beefy (30s) tough guy in shotgun. This is GRIFF. He too wears shades, black business clothes. On a 3rd stab we see another black clad gentleman. (40s) He’s handsome, but looks like he parties too hard. This is BUDDY. On a final stab we see the last shades wearing black clad passenger, a younger lady (20s) with her hair up. This is DARLING. There’s a hint of trash beneath her business clothes. The high strings crescendo. Griff flings his door wide open. 3 INT./EXT. CAR/PARKING LOT - CONTINUOUS 3 The track kicks in. -

Man up – Biographies
Presents MAN UP A film by Ben Palmer (88 min., UK, 2015) Language: English Distribution Publicity Bonne Smith Star PR 1352 Dundas St. West Tel: 416-488-4436 Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M6J 1Y2 Fax: 416-488-8438 Tel: 416-516-9775 Fax: 416-516-0651 E-mail: [email protected] E-mail: [email protected] www.mongrelmedia.com @MongrelMedia MongrelMedia LOGLINE When Nancy is mistaken for Jack’s blind date under the clock at Waterloo Station, she decides to take fate into her own hands and just go with it. What could possibly go wrong? MAN UP is an honest, heart-warming romantic comedy about taking chances and rolling with the consequences. One night, two people, on a first date like no other... SHORT SYNOPSIS Meet Nancy (Lake Bell): 34, single, hung-over, and exhausted by her well meaning but clueless friends’ continual matchmaking. 10 times bitten, 100 times shy, after an especially disastrous set-up at her friends’ engagement party, Nancy is basically done with dating. She’s reached the end of her rope, and is more than happy to hole up, seal up, and resign herself to a life alone. That is until Jack (Simon Pegg) mistakes Nancy for his blind date under the clock at Waterloo Station, and she does the unthinkable and just… goes with it. Because what if pretending to be someone else finally makes her man up, and become her painfully honest, awesomely unconventional, and slightly unstable true self? Best just to let the evening unfold, roll with the consequences, and see if one unpredictable, complicated, rather unique night can bring these two messy souls together. -

Sparks - This Town Ain’T Big Enough for Both of Us Episode 211
Song Exploder Sparks - This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us Episode 211 Hrishikesh: You’re listening to Song Exploder, where musicians take apart their songs and piece by piece tell the story of how they were made. My name is Hrishikesh Hirway. (“This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us” by SPARKS) Russell: We're big, uh, cinema buffs, so I think we've always had this kind of rationale that in making pop songs, you're able to make the most elaborate movie in your own mind in a three-minute song. Hrishikesh: That’s Russell Mael. He and his brother Ron Mael are the legendary duo, Sparks, from Los Angeles. Over the last 50 years, they’ve released 25 albums. They’ve collaborated with Giorgio Moroder and Franz Ferdinand, and influenced bands like Joy Division, Faith No More, Björk, and countless others. There’s a new documentary about them called The Sparks Brothers made by one of my favorite directors, Edgar Wright. His films include Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver, and Scott Pilgrim vs the World. The new documentary premiered at Sundance this year, and comes out in theaters this Friday, June 18th. Here’s what Edgar Wright says in the intro of the film. Edgar: Sparks. How did this glam rock anomaly become a band with a career spanning 5 decades? How can Ron and Russell Mael be successful, underrated, hugely influential and overlooked all at the same time? And where does one even start with 25 studio albums and nearly 500 songs? Hrishikesh: We’re gonna start with just one song. -

This thesis looks at a variety of discourses about film editing in order to explore the possibility, on the one hand, of drawing connections between them, and on the other, of addressing some of their problematic aspects. Some forms of fragmentation existed from the very beginnings of the history of the moving image, and the thesis argues that forms of editorial control were executed by early exhibitors, film pioneers, writers, and directors, as well as by a fully- fledged film editor. This historical reconstruction of how the profession of editor evolved sheds light on the specific aspects of their work. Following on from that, it is proposed that models of editing fall under two broad paradigms: of montage and continuity.
