Clare Elfman's Biography. Clare Elfman was born in New York, relocated to Los Angeles, married Milton Elfman, teacher, and until she began her writing career, taught English (Dorsey High, Palisades High and the Venice School for Teenage Expectant Mothers). She wrote four novels (under the name Blossom Elfman) based on her experiences with pregnant teens. The first, The Girls of Huntington House , was made into a movie of the week; the second, A House for Jonnie O. was many times optioned. She was asked by ABC Motion Pictures to write a teen film ( The Making of Emma ) which was in pre-production when the company folded. She was asked to write a film about teen pregnancy, I Think I'm Having a Baby , which earned her an Emmy. She left YA and entered the adult field with The Strawberry Fields of Heaven (currently written as a screenplay). Her most recent novel explores the marriage of Oscar and Constance Wilde, The Case of the Pederast's Wife , and is being adapted as a cabaret-opera. Clare is the mother of Richard Elfman, Danny Elfman and Judith Elfman, mother-in-law to Bridget Fonda Elfman, Lauren Hynan Elfman, grandmother to Bodhi Elfman, Jenna Elfman, Louis Elfman, Mali Elfman, Lola Elfman, Oliver Henry Milton Elfman and great-grandmother to Story Elfman. Blossom Elfman. Clare "Blossom" Elfman (née Bernstein ; 4 November 1925 – 10 April 2017) was an American novelist. Contents. Family. She was married to Milton Elfman (1915-2001), for 53 years until his death in 2001. Milton was an elementary school teacher and he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Blossom and Milton had two children together: writer, director and publisher Richard Elfman, and musician and composer Danny Elfman. Blossom’s family includes Richard’s son, actor/producer, Bodhi Elfman and his wife, actress Jenna Elfman (noted as Dharma in TV series Dharma and Greg). Danny Elfman is married to actress Bridget Fonda and his daughter (by earlier marriage), Mali Elfman, is an actress and film producer. Blossom was step-mother to Judith Faye Elfman, a daughter by Milton's first marriage. Buzzine. Elfman, writing under "Clare Elfman", was senior literary editor of Buzzine, owned and operated by Richard Elfman and Louis Elfman. She also wrote theater and book reviews and did interviews, including with author Salman Rushdie and many others. Adaptations of Novels. Adaptations of Elfman novels The Girls of Huntington House was produced as a film and I Think I'm Having a Baby received an Emmy as a television movie. Elfman was adapting and producing her most recent novel, The Case of the Pederast's Wife , about the wife of Oscar Wilde, as a stage musical. She was adapting her historical-fiction novel, Strawberry Fields of Heaven , about the sexual experimentation of the 19th-century Oneida Community, as a screenplay to be produced as a motion picture.
