Message from Inspector Teresa Futter Welcome to this month’s ward newsletter for Brumstead, , , Hickling, Horsey, Ingham, , , , , and Sutton . Our aim is to ensure you receive regular updates on crime levels along with relevant news and crime prevention advice. We will inform you of any opportunities to meet the local policing team and encourage you to advertise these within your parish newsletters and magazines. Working together ensures the police understand the issues and concerns that matter to the public helping us to keep one of the safest places to live in the country.

Crime Updates (1st - 31st May)

Offence Numbers What could this entail

Arson 0 Damage caused as a result of fire. Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Harassment, alarm or distress is caused in a non-crime incident. 3

Burglary - Residential 2 Entry and theft to any building within the curtilage/boundary of a residence. Burglary - Business and Community Entry and theft to any building or structure not within the curtilage/ boundary 0 of a residence. Criminal Damage A person destroys or damages property belonging to someone else. 3 Domestic Domestic incidents where a crime has not occurred. Parties are aged 16 or 7 over and have been intimate partners or family members regardless of sexuality. Hate Incident Any incident where a crime has not occurred which the victim, or anyone 0 else, thinks is based on someone’s prejudice towards them because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or because they are transgender.

Race or Religious aggravated public fear Any crime determined to have a hate element as per above. 0 Possession of controlled substance Unlawful possession of a drug classified in class A, B or C. 1

Possession of weapons 0 Unlawful possession of an article used as a weapon. Public fear, alarm or distress Public order offences e.g. from a verbal altercation to offences just short of 2 violence. Robbery Includes a range of offences where force is used, threatened or the victim is 0 put in fear. Theft from a motor vehicle Any item stolen that was in, on or attached to a motor vehicle. 0 Theft or unauthorised taking of a motor Any motor vehicle including those abandoned. 1 vehicle Theft of pedal cycle From a public place, if stolen form a shed or garage this would be a Burglary 0 Residential. Theft from a person Purse being taken from a handbag, or a mobile phone from a 0 shopping basket. Message from your Engagement Officer

Helping to police your own community is one of the country’s oldest traditions. For over 175 years, Specials have taken on Constabulary powers to work alongside and support Regular Officers. There are currently 13 active Special Constables across . These officers are required to perform a minimum of 16 hours per month. They will be involved in foot patrol, crime reduction initiatives, schools liaison, policing events, public order policing, road traffic collisions and conflict resolution. In order to join the Specials you are required be 18 years or over, numerate and literate, have a positive and friendly approach as well as a willingness to work as part of a team. Prospective applicants will receive training in police duties, powers of arrest, common crimes, statement taking, personal safety training and the use of baton, PAVA and rigid handcuffs. The following priorities were agreed at the Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel Priority Setting Meeting held at the Tesco store in Stalham on Wednesday 29th March 2017: 1. Speeding on The Street in Catfield and School Road in Ludham 2. Crime prevention at campsites, caravan sites and boatyards 3. Anti Social Behaviour in Stalham
