International Tea Day 15 December This day was originally set up to draw attention to the plight of tea producers and workers, and to protect their rights. It is possible to support this by buying fairtrade tea. It is a perfect excuse to have a tea party! Get out the posh cups and saucers, prepare little sandwiches and host a tea party. If you want to make it a charitable affair and invite people in, you could consider donating to a fairtrade charity. http://bit.ly/31GR9Yt Try New Teas There are so many different teas available nowadays. Try having a tea tasting session and see what your residents prefer! Talk About How do you make the perfect pot of tea? Do you put milk in the cup first or second? Do you use tea bags or leaf tea? Fruit Tea Bread Do you use a teapot or a bag in a mug? Do you let it brew and keep the pot warm with a tea cosy? This recipe uses tea to moisten Do you prefer Chinese or Indian tea? the tea bread. Songs In a separate bowl mix together: ‘A Nice Cup Of Tea’ ‘Everything Stops For Tea’ 9oz self-raising flour ‘Tea For Two’ Half a tsp of mixed spice ‘I’m A Little Teapot’ A pinch of ground ginger In The Garden Add the cooled fruit and tea If you use compostable tea bags, they can be used in the garden as mixture to the bowl with the flour a fertiliser. Check with the label first. and stir to combine. Pour into the greased loaf tin. Invite Someone To Tea Draw a picture of a cup and saucer on a piece of card. Bake at 180°C for about 1 hour. Decorate it and cut it out. Serve cold, spread with butter. Make a small cut in the cup and push in a tea bag. On the saucer write: ‘Please join me for tea (time and date) and a natter’ (or personalise it to their needs).
