Merriweather, conductor About This Virtual Concert By Barbara Pickhardt The Fauré Requiem Reimagined for a Pandemic This virtual performance of the Fauré Requiem grew out of the need to prepare a concert while maintaining social distancing. We would surely have preferred to blend our voices as we always have, in a live performance. But the pandemic opened the door to a new and different opportunity. As we saw the coronavirus wreak havoc around the world, it seemed natural to reach out to our friends in other locales and include them in this program. In our reimagined version of the Fauré Requiem, Ars Choralis is joined, from Belgium, by the Brussels Choral Society, the Magna Graecia Flute Choir of Calabria, Italy, the Dessoff Choirs from New York City, and, from New York, instrumentalists from the Albany area, New York City and the Hudson Valley. -

In the face of the common challenges of mankind, peace and unity have become the common voice of the international community under the pandemic. In 2021 the World Peace Choral Festival celebrated its 11th anniversary Online. more than 340 choirs from 55 countries participated in the online events of the World Peace Choral Festival 2021! Our sincere thanks to all choirs and their members, the artistic committee, jurors, and staff members contributing to the festival! THE INTERNATIONAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE Los ANGELES RIOTS HENRY J. RICHARDSON, III* I. INTRODUCTION By now much has been written, preached, propagandized, analyzed and moralized about the Los Angeles riots. We need not rehearse here either the facts of the trial and acquittal of the police officers who beat Rodney King, the subsequent fire and destruction or the resulting fed- eral and state trials of the officers and riot participants. This Article will discuss the international reactions to the acquittals and the riot while exploring several crucial issues with implications for United States pol- icy, international law and Afro-America in the world community. The Article will also explore comparative claims regarding causation for the riots and the responses of the Vatican and the southern tier of the world community to these claims. Some initial consideration will be given to recent United States. policy trends in order to place the international community's response to Los Angeles in context. -

Summer 2020 Dear Members of the CJA Community, In July, Eric Smith – an alumnus from our Class Eric helped unload and distribute 500 boxes of 2011 – met with me at CJA on an early of food for our CJA families and neighbors – Friday morning.
