Page 2 Free State Corvette Club Vette Gazette August 2018 President’s Message Free State Family: Here we are in the lazy dog days of Summer. Before you know it, Corvette Weekend 2018 will be upon us once again! Our O.C. Committee Chairs are still very much in need of members to volunteer and fill critical time slots to make our Main Event a success. Please contact one of the Committee Chairs directly, or use the sign up sheets which shall be available at the general member- ship meeting to donate your time. On another note, the 2018 Board of Directors sent out a survey a couple weeks ago. As of this time, only about a third of the membership has responded. So please take a few mo- ments and provide us some feedback if you haven't already. Remember that this is YOUR Club! We as the Board would like to take in your comments, suggestions and concerns to help steer the Club in the most positive direction! Thank you, and I hope to see you all Friday evening.

Save the Wave!

Thank you Rick Schinzel, the Mystery History Cruise was a great suc- cess! We started out cruising through the clouds, visited the home of Corvette America, checked out the famous Horseshoe Curve, and got history lessons about life long before Corvettes, and a devastating flood. Along the way, we heard some live music performed by none other than The King himself (sort of), had some laughs with a dead guy, a drunk guy and “Stinky” while meeting new friends Paddy O’Furniture and George, and made even more new friends when we participated in a Corvette car show hosted by the Flood City Corvette Club of PA. And of course, we came, we saw, we ate…and ate…and ate… And, remember, all the banners from the Mystery Cruise will be auctioned off at Fri- day’s general meeting, get there early to choose your favorite, and don’t forget your checkbook.

For you car show fans, there’s plenty to choose from. Corvette only shows include two this coming weekend hosted by the Northern Virginia Corvette Club and Cor- vette Annapolis. Check out the car show cal- endar on the club website for the details. Next on the club events calendar is the club picnic hosted by Bob & Glenda Reher on September 22nd at 1:00. I’ll be sending out an email with more specifics, but please mark your calendar now so we can be sure to see you there. After that, there an event coming up in October down the ocean you may have heard about that is always in need of volunteers. Man, Corvette season goes by fast!

Cal Miller Submitted the following article from AutoBlog

1,000-hp Yenko/SC Stage II Corvette now available to a lucky few John Beltz Snyder - 7/23/2018

The Yenko name, synony- mous with custom Chevrolets from the 1960s, has resur- faced a few times of late. Most recently, Specialty Vehi- cle Engineering (SVE) an- nounced an 800-horsepower Yenko/SC Corvette, an equally powerful Yenko/SC Silverado pickup, and Yenko/ SC Stage II Camaro making a brazen 1,000 horsepower. Now, the Corvette gets quad- ruple-digit power, as SVE has announced the availability of the 1000-horsepower 2019 Yenko/SC Stage II Corvette.

Based on coupe and convertible versions of the Corvette Grand Sport, it uses a modified, super- charged GM LT1 V8, displacing 6.8 liters. In addition to its 1,000 horsepower, it also produces 850 pound-feet of torque. The engine features CNC ported high-flow LT4 cylinder heads, 10 percent larger throttle body and an improved high- and low-pressure fuel system. It also has a higher-flow exhaust system with cast aluminum quad exhaust tips in brushed aluminum or black.

It has appearance and performance features from the Corvette Z06 to complement the enormous power. Yenko and "1000HP" badges let others know what's under the hood. Its Brembo brakes in- clude 14.6-inch rotors and six-piston calipers up front, with 14.4-inch, four-piston rear calipers. Opt- ing for the Z07 performance package with carbon-ceramic brakes and upgraded suspension is rec- ommended for Stage II cars. It comes with a seven-speed manual transmission or optional "heavy duty" eight-speed automatic.

SVE will only build 25 examples of the Yenko/SC Stage II Corvette, and they can be ordered through Chevrolet dealerships. The Yenko package starts at $68,995 (on top of the price of a new Corvette Grand Sport) with a manual transmission, or $77,995 with an automatic transmission. Op- tions include body color painted upper half of rear fascia/diffuser ($1,495), Z06-Style ground effects package ($3,495), Z06 clear Wickerbill adjustable spoiler center ($795), painted supercharger ($1,195), body-color/stripe-color painted brake calipers ($1,195) and black powder coated wheel fin- ish with painted wheel stripes ($1,195).

The Yenko/SC Stage II Corvette isn't emissions-legal on California roads.
