His ancestors from thirteen generations were members of the priest class and for centuries had been in charge of the temple in their village Tapeshwaram. At the age of 9, Sharmaji entered the priesthood, as had many previous family members from Amaravati. He graduated from Sri Venkateshwara Vedic School, Tirupathi and came to US in 1994 to Aurora Temple, Chicago. In 1997, he was asked by Datta Yoga Center through Ganapathi Sachidanda Swa. miji's blessings to accept a position as Head Priest in Datta Temple, Baton Rouge, LA. He continued his career in Datta Temple as a registered Hindu priest with East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court. In august 2007, he got relieved from his responsibilities as Head priest from Datta Temple. During this time he performed many pujas in temple and with devotees all around the nation for many festivals and special occasions. Beginning August 2007, he independently started performing all religious ceremonies as a step towards building his personal service to the community. He started his first religious service with Lord Ganesh Puja on Vinayaka Chavithi on 09/15/2007 with all the support from devotees and friends. We expect full support and encouragement from all the devotees in his future developments just as much in the past. Being true believers of ancestors and pious culture with utmost admiration and whole hearted dedication, Sharmaji is participating in propagating the Vedic culture for all devotees.

    A Brief Comparative Study of the Tetrabiblos of Claudius Ptolemy and the Vedic Surya Siddhanta. Trishana Ramluckan Submitted as part of a taught degree of Master of Arts in Classical Civilisation at the Programme of Classics, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban. 2005 11 Abstract The Ancient Indians and Greeks had similar beliefs in the concepts of magic, superstition, and astrology. First I will look briefly at the beliefs of the ancient Greeks and the main astrological text- the Tetrabiblos of Claudius Ptolemy. Ptolemy moves away from the scientific account that he provides us in his Almagest, to defining astrology as an art acquired from the observation of the movements of the heavenly bodies. The main argument however is based on the fact that Ptolemy uses an almost apologetic tone in his defence of the Tetrabiblos. Whereas the ancient Indians appeared to be strong believers in astrology, the ancient Greeks always sought to justify it in terms of science. To analyse this concept in depth I will provide a comparative study of both these belief systems. But whereas the Greeks distinguished astrology from astronomy, in the Vedic tradition astrology consisted of observable science as well as mythological and magical elements. Some consideration must therefore be given to astronomical aspects of this tradition in drawing a comparison between the two. Astrology was prevalent in ancient India a long time prior to the writing of the Surya Siddhanta or any other astronomical text. The Surya Siddhanta is often held to be the main text on Indian astronomy as it tries to address the reasons why certain religious practices were performed at those specific times.

Out of 2,170,112 RT-PCR tests done 274,294 cases are positive. Cumulative positivity rate: 12.6%; Positivity rate of the new cases: 1.9%. 98.6% of the total cases have recovered; 0.36% (974) of the cases are active; . A total of 2777 COVID-19 deaths reported till date. The most common comorbidity identified in fatal cases was hypertension (39.9%). Death reported in last 24 hours: 0 . New cases reported from 20 districts. 38% of the total cases and 42.3% of the new cases are female.
