Today’s business environment requires com- panies to undergo change almost constantly to remain competitive. Similarities can be drawn between dental schools and the corporate world today: we both employ a “work force,” and our fac- ulty and staff serve patients that are considered our “clients.” As a dental school, our “product” is to develop the best dental professional primed for meeting the oral health needs of patients in the 21st century. By creatively drawing from industry, we are able to garner strategies for promoting the efficiencies and lean processes that are critical for sustaining educational excellence.

At this year’s meeting we will introduce a novel teaching approach aimed at “Generation X” stu- dents, share methods for addressing the latest CODA standards and explore new ideas with our colleagues through several networking opportuni- ties. Change is inevitable; moreover, embracing change presents challenges for us all. We look forward to your enthusiastic participation over these exciting next few days!
