Professional Nursing Portfolio RN to BSN Professional Portfolio Credit Worksheet (For Students Admitted from Fall 2020 Onward)

The submission of the Portfolio must include supporting documentation. Credits will be allocated following review by the evaluators, Program Director, and the Assistant Dean for the BSN Program.
1. Professional Work Experience

CE Program Credits

Instructions: Submit CE as continuing education credits such as workplace in-services, professional development conferences (local, regional, national) not specifically leading to certifications.
College level courses, taken through a community college or 4-year institution after completion of the pre-licensure education, and that are not being used to meet the degree requirements for the BSN through Loyola University Chicago, may be included in this category. For consideration, the course must have been completed within 5 years at the time of enrollment into the RN to BSN program, and must be in a nursing or health care related subject area. Students may be required to submit a course syllabus. The credit hours for the course will be converted to contact hours for calculating CE program credits. If the course was completed at an institution on a semester system, 1 credit hour equals 14 CE hours. If the course is completed at an institution on a quarter system, 1 credit hour equals 9.3 hours. 3. Certification in Nursing Specialties

The documents submitted as separate attachments will not be reviewed. Each certification mentioned above offers 3 credit hours. The certification must be active at the time the portfolio is submitted.
Note: Activities such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, and other continuing education offerings are submitted in the continuing education section of the portfolio, and not in the Certification section. If there is more than one document, submit as one pdf attachment for review and consideration. Documents submitted as separate attachments will not be reviewed. 4. Community and Professional Service over Last Three Years
Examples include: Possible Credits 0-3 Preliminary Review Credits Awarded • Volunteer in a hospital’s council or committees • Volunteer on a continual basis in a community program such as PADS, BEDS • Volunteer in a Parish or Church health fair, health promotion activity, wellness screening • Active role in a professional organization, such as serving on a committee or as a reviewer
Instructions: Will consider 1 credit for every 12-15 hours of service applying nursing/health related knowledge in volunteerism (2 credits for 24-30 hours; 3 credits for 36-45 hours). No partial credit is awarded. Students must obtain signed letter (s) from the designated person on the sponsoring institution’s letterhead to receive credit. If there is more than one document, submit as one pdf attachment for review and consideration. Documents submitted as separate attachments will not be reviewed.
5. Electives
Possible Credits 0-6 Preliminary Review Credits An additional 6 credits can be applied across one Awarded or more areas of the portfolio.
As an example, and additional 1 credit could be from work experience, another credit from continuing education, another credit could be from certification, and another credit could be from community and professional service
