Ends at Holford Green Car Park

Getting there Holford is on the A39 approximately 10 miles west of . Holford Green is reached by taking the first left turn on entering the village and following past the church and round sharp left and right hand bends to arrive on the green.

There is a pub in the village where refreshments can be obtained.

The are home to red Deer and they can often be seen in the woods and on the skyline of the hills. The best time to see them is either early morning or in the evening.

Route instructions [1] Turn left out of car park and join track passing alongside green on right. Follow track past cottages and into woodland. At point where track divides take left hand fork. i.e. do not go right and cross stream. Track continues ahead to a gate which pass through and continue to follow track. At point where track finishes take path going straight ahead on top of bank by stream. Path soon descends bank to cross a minor stream and then continues straight ahead up combe. Cross a ford and then follow path bearing off to right.

[2] In a short distance this path again crosses the stream by way of a ford and then continues up combe with stream on left. Follow this path ahead up combe to eventually emerge from woods and finally up a steep climb to the top of hill. At top of hill a number of paths converge but continue straight ahead where soon Bicknoller Post will come into view. At post stop and take in view before returning by same route to convergence of paths.

[3] At convergence go back down the path of ascent for short distance to then take a path turning off to the left. This path follows the edge of Hodders Combe until finally reaching a major path at a T-junction. Here turn right and follow path downhill. After approx 200yds. A stand of pines on the right is passed. Bear right off the path just past the pines to reach the war memorial. After viewing war memorial retrace steps back to downhill path and continue downhill. Path becomes quite steep with small loose stones so tread carefully. Path reaches woodland and joins a major track at a T-junction.

[4] Here turn right and follow track downhill passing through a gate before proceeding on down to Holford Pound at the bottom. At the pound join the road coming in from the left and follow downhill past a house on left. Shortly after passing house turn right to cross Holford Green and return to car park.
