Consideration has also been given to those clubs who provide a number of Technical Officials. Volunteers from clubs who do not appear on this list are encouraged to offer their assistance when required. b) In circumstances where less than 2 Timekeepers are on each lane: records will not be recognised and Qualifying Times required for National and State events may not be recognised Page 3 Competitors’ Notes for the Day 1. These championships will be conducted under the Swimming Queensland General Rules, SQ Championship By-Laws, FINA and SAL rules. 2. All competitors must, at the time of competing, be registered Competitive Members of a Swimming Club, which is duly affiliated with both its Regional and State bodies. 3. Warmup will commence as follows: • Friday evening session: 5.00 pm • Saturday morning session: 7.00 am • Note: dive starts and pace work will be allocated in Lanes 0 and 9. 4. Competitors in the first two events should be in the Marshalling Area 10 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time of the session. In addition, competitors should be in the Marshalling Area at least two events ahead of the event in progress. The Marshalling Area is on the southern side of pool, adjacent to the 2nd 50m Pool. Competitors who do not register in this area when directed to do so may be denied entry to their events. No unauthorised persons shall enter the marshalling area. 5. The Pool Deck area must be kept clear to enable all Officials to carry out their duties during the running of the Meet. • No person shall walk on the pool deck between the pool end and the timekeepers. • No person shall walk along the poolside during any event. • No person shall enter the water between races unless instructed to do so by an official. 6. Heats may be combined at the discretion of the Referee in consultation with the Marshall. 7. The age of competitors shall be as at the 8th March 2019. 8. Heats are seeded fastest to slowest. 9. Placings will be determined on the three (3) fastest official times recorded in the heats. There will be no finals swum. 10. At the completion of each heat, swimmers will remain in their lanes until the final swimmer has completed his/her swim and will leave the water when directed to do so by the Referee. 11. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Race Secretary and a fee of $50 per event applied 12. All protests are to be submitted in writing by the responsible team leader together with a $100 deposit with the Referee no later than 30 minutes after the announcement of the results or disqualifications. 13. The Referee will be the sole arbitrator of all disputes and his/her decision will be final. 14. The ‘one start' rule will be used at this meet. 15. The Check Starter will position the swimmers behind their lanes, prior to the start. 16. The Referee will call the swimmers to their position on their blocks with a long whistle blast. 17. For Backstroke events the swimmers will enter the water, feet first, on the first long whistle blast. Upon the second whistle, swimmers will assume their starting positions. 18. The Starter will call "take your marks"; the swimmers will assume their starting positions and remain stationary until the starting device is sounded. Page 4 19. Any swimmer may be disqualified if he/she delays the start or willfully disobeys an instruction from the Starter. 20. Collection of medals is the responsibility of each swimmer. Medals not collected by the end of the meet will not be redeemed. Club Point-score Swimming Gold Coast is pleased to announce that, again this year, every swimmer competing for their Club will gain points for their Club. The number of points will be dependent on placings: 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th All other placings Individual Events 10 8 6 5 4 3 2 1 Relay Events 20 16 12 10 8 6 4 2 For every point your Club scores, you will accumulate Prize Money. The Prize Money will be calculated at 1 point = 50 cents. Every Club that attends our Championships this year will receive a share of the Prize Money. (Relay Points were awarded to clubs that competed at the Swimming Gold Coast Regional Relay Championships held on Saturday 1st December 2018). Prize money will be presented at the 2019 Swimming Gold Coast Annual Awards Afternoon. Club executives and individual winners will receive their invites closer to the day. Awards The first three places in each event will be determined by the times swum. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded accordingly. Visiting swimmers will be awarded medals if they attain a top 3 placing, however will not be recognised as official place-getters. Medals will be awarded to each individual age group (11 years and upwards) in all Open events with the exception of: • 200m Individual Medley where it shall be from 10 years and upwards • 400m Individual Medley where it shall be from 13 years and upwards. Record certificates will be presented for all new records once they have been ratified. Visiting swimmers will be awarded All-Comers Records. Results will be displayed as they become available. They will also be available through Meet Mobile. Please do not approach the Recording area. Age Champion awards will be presented to swimmers with the highest accumulated points from the following events. Please note that a minimum of 4 events must be swum to be eligible for Age Champion awards. • 8 years • 9 years - 50m events plus 200m Individual Medley • 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 years and Over - all events. Age Champions will receive their awards at the 2019 Swimming Gold Coast Awards afternoon. Page 5 Multi- Class Events • Multi-Class Swimmers must be registered as ‘competitive’ swimmers with a Gold Coast Club and have a classification card. Your classification number/s must be beside your name in the TM file sent by your club. • Your classification card needs to be sighted by the Chief Referee during Warm-up on the Saturday morning of competition. • If you do not have a classification you will be able to swim as an Exhibition Swimmer for times only. You will not be eligible for a medal. • The events (50m Free & 100m Stroke events plus 200 IM) are for 10years & Over and run as Open events. There are no qualifying times. • Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place according to the Swimming Australia Multi-Class Format. Photography In nominating and swimming in these Championships, swimmers agree that they may be photographed by Swimming Gold Coast’s approved photographers, that the images may be displayed for viewing and purchasing on site during the Championships and on the photographer’s secure website after the Meet, and that they may also be used by Swimming Gold Coast at its discretion.
